Rats Fleeing the Sinking Ship

And see above, then I don't see the RNC just expelling such a candidate who can mobilize such large parts of the electorate and potentially split the party. As you said yourself, Trump voters vote GOP because of him and call everyone opposed to Trump a RINO, and their numbers are high enough to imho warrant such fears of a split. At least I thiunk that what the RNC would consider and fear.

If Trump is a 3rd party, which I think he will be very soon now, the fear of a wasted vote enabling a communist liberal manianc who will take your guns into power will be more than enough to keep votes away from Trump.  They'll love him, but they'll know he "can't win."

Yeah I think that rather is true for the half that still voted GOP despite Trump. Most of the Trump fanbase won't be so reasonable to vote for the former RINO party instead of their guy. As you stated yourself, Trump fans hate RINOs almost as passionately as liberals, and I don't think it's about policies much.
At least I think that's what the RNC would think, that they would not stand a chance in case of such a split either, which therefore is to be avoided at all costs. They'd rather hold their nose, swallow the pill and support the candidate that is like Trump and appeals to that base. I base my belief on the fact that this is exactly what they did all these past years.

That and I'm starting to think Trump would rather lose and just use the concept that he was cheated to raise responsibility-free money for his own pockets and to promote his own brands.  It would be like if every time I applied for a job and didn't get it I could start a go-fund me and complain that I was discriminated against and get thousands of dollars of donations.  The last thing I'd want is to get an actual job.

Oh no, I was cheated out of a job AGAIN!  Give me all your money so I can fight this!

It's almost like Trump has no loyalty to anyone except himself while demanding total and completely loyalty.

Who could have imagined?

I was is HS in 1984 so they made us read it.  It was okay.  I was probably too naive to think about real world implications then and it was more just "torture porn" for parts.

But we are not living in 1984.
