Should that matter?  So does every other major city in the country.  It just matters more for Houston because it's the youngest of the countries largest cities.

Houston, Abilene, Midland, Odessa, El Paso, Austin, San Antonio, Corpus Cristi are all wonderful friendly Texas cities.  Don't let Dallass/Fort Worthless taint the state.

My wife is from Texas. Her family still lives in there, so I've been down there for visits about a half dozen times. We always try to add a bit of vacation to it since we're taking time off to get down there. It's 2 hours or less from their house (in a pretty small town) to Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and Corpus Christi, so we've visited them all, and I would definitely recommend any of them to someone looking for somewhere to travel. Austin and San Antonio are both really great.
