Yep

Like Vinyl said he's just a guy who can throw hard, he's not a pitcher. At least they got the win, needed it bad.

Moose put on 10 day IL retroactive to August 6 and Tejay Antone called up.

Good thing he plays for the Reds.  If he were a Bengal, that thigh bruise would turn into a shattered femur, by the end of the season.  Ninja

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

This home plate ump is horrible for both teams today. Got a feeling someone will be tossed before the game is over.

Sonny Gray allows the tying run to score and now they are bringing Lorenzen in to put us behind. God help us.

Well that didn't take long. First batter walks on 4 straight to load the bases and next batter gets a hit on first pitch.

Lorenzen is just plain useless right now.

4 batters faced 3 walks and 1 hit. 2 of the walks forced in a run. So freaking useless.

They need to sit Lorzen, trade him, whatever ?

At least they took 2 of 3 which they badly needed to do !

With Gray pitching today there's really no excuse not to complete the sweep.

I can’t imagine they’d get much interest in a trade.

I question Bell's decision here. You don't bring in Mike who is struggling when game is on the line. You bring him in when there is a huge cushion to build his confidence. He clearly is off at this point and hurting the team.

Agree

Perhaps teams are looking at this season as just as a good warm up for next season ? An early spring training before spring training next year ? Not really taking it seriously ? I dunno ?

But if they are "in it to win it" he better start treating every remaining game as the 9th game of the world series. They're 6 games down in the loss column 1/4 of the way thru.

This upcoming home stand against Royals and Pirates (6 games) they need to win 5 of em in a bad way.

So Reds WON the series from Milwaukee.

Castillo needs a good game. He has more hits than innings. I would drop many from Fantasy Baseball but Castillo is one of the Top Players you keep and bench and hope He and some Top Players get with it after 2 weeks of baseball.

Covid missing months and now 2 weeks of baseball. Many players in baseball are still in Spring Training mode. FANS NEED TO REMEMBER THAT. Reds are not giving up on Iglesias, Lorenzen, Suarez, anymore than teams are giving up on Bellinger, Arenado, JD Martinez, K Marte, Devers, Semian, Yates and others. Yes it is August, but to start playing baseball it is March only the games count. JOE NUXHALL always had a good take on Spring Training, which is what these first weeks are. JOE said every pitcher in Spring is going to have their rough outings, even the Koufax and Gibson pitchers. We saw that in Gray on Sunday. We have seen that in Castillo. We may see that with Bauer and Disco and all the Reds pitchers per JOE on Spring Training, which is what these first weeks are. TV announcers of all games say the Hitting in MLB is way behind the pitching as it would be in early Spring Training. ...THIS COVID SEASON IS WHAT IT IS......That is why the extra play-off teams, the hope is MLB players will look better as they go, and will be in good form late August, September, October. ...MLB knew going in that the first weeks would not be great baseball, hence the extra play-off teams.

Reds are still around 2nd place, which is a play-off spot. So are 2 of 3 NL 3rd place spots. It is not important to catch Cubs in 1st Place in Covid short season. Only to get your players up to speed and punch your ticket to the dance and WIN IN PLAY-OFFS.

It's clear the Reds are better when they have Moose. Hopefully he will be good to go most of short season. Senzel stepped up in OF with Castellanos & the player from Japan. Still need more at DH. Votto having better year. Galvis OK at short. There is enough here to be a tough team in Play-Offs. Reds have the Starters. I see the bullpen getting better after these early Spring Training Weeks.

So just won series from Brew Crew and still around that 2nd place spot after getting these first weeks of knocking the rust off out of the way. Players will still miss time to Covid & normal injuries on all teams, BUT I STILL LIKE REDS PLAY-OFF CHANCES. REDS could be one tough team in October.

Hoping Castillo has some better innings this week, and Gray. Joe Nuxhall said some early bad outings are to be expected. Hoping we get MOOSE back, Reds need him. ...GO REDS

PS : With no Preseason, don't look for last place Bengals to be good football in September. In fact all NFL will be pretty sloppy in September. So THE MEAN MACHINE Burt Reynolds saying will be Key. PROTECT THE SUPERSTAR. In Bengals case that is Burrow, don't let him get clobbered every play in quick start to Covid Season.
