Reds July 2023 thread

It's sure looking like Abbott isn't just a fluke, man what a game!!

DLC just hasn't looked comfortable at the plate lately. Taking a lot of first pitch strikes with bat on his shoulder and when he does swing trying to upper cut balls damn near in the dirt. Perhaps it's time for another day off to settle down?

Votto, oh boy, he's batting .045 in last 7 games. Can he turn it on again?

Anyone else getting Tom Browning vibes from Abbott?

Abbott has pitched well so far. He definitely has earned a spot on the rotation. Let's hope he can keep it up.

Yep

He sure seems like he has staff ACE written all over him. Now if Greene can come back and Lodolo and be even average we would be in decent shape.

I'd like to give a shout out to Spencer Steer ThumbsUp

He's kinda gotten lost in the mix with all the hoopla on DLC, McClain, Abbott, Friedl, Votto's return and so on. He's just a lunchpail kinda guy. Goes where they put him and gets the job done. But

He's batting .283 and that's in 81 games. He's 2nd on the team with 43 runs scored. Leads the team with 14 HR's and is tied for the lead in RBI's with 50, so of course on pace for a hundred. His OPS is 876

IMHO Steer needs to be our everyday 1B man.

Alexis Diaz is the only Red selected to the All Sar Game.

I bet that won't be the case next season.

Wow, Abbott resetting the record books:

And it's not like he's beating the bottom feeders. He's won against the Brewers, @ the Astros, @ the Orioles whom are all upper tier teams. The Padres while not doing well in standings have some top shelf bats.

Which is awesome. It would be sweet if he emerged as a truce ace leading the rotation for the next 7+ years. I'd love to see the Reds have a stud pitcher.

God the Cubs suck. Gave up 2 more in the 8th and lost 8-6 after having a 6-0 lead.

Don't think we can count on the Cubs for much.

Votto wasn’t about to go on the longest 0-fer streak of his career. Ding dong, 3-0 good guys.

Weaver didn't get pummeled early and pitched fairly well. It's a good thing because the offense took the night off. But a win is a win so.
