With Zac Taylor being pegged as the next head coach, I wanted to look at other very young coaches who have been hired and what they were able to accomplish.
In the Super Bowl era, 14 head coaches have been hired between the ages of 30-35. Here is the list, with the number of years with their first team (if more than one) and their records, including playoffs:
John Madden 10 years 103-32-7 9-7 PO record 1 Super Bowl title
Bill Cowher 15 years 149-90-1 12-9 PO record 1 Super Bowl title
Mike Tomlin 12 years 126-66-1 8-7 PO record 1 Super Bowl title
Joe Schmidt 6 years 43-34-7 0-1 PO record
Jon Gruden 4 years 38-26 2-2 PO record
Sean McVay 2017-present 24-8 1-1 PO record
Dick Nolan 8 years 54-62-5 2-3 PO record
Eric Mangini 3 years 23-25 0-1 PO record

You just never know what you'll get in any scenario.
That said, quality of organization helps a lot. Many of the guys on the list that have failed have went to bad teams.

You know it's bad when you really don't care if things go well or not, just that they changed things up.
And for the record, I'm happy they took the risk too.

I'm very excited about Taylor, especially the more I listen to people who know him and have worked with him. Also, I've been watching a few interviews with him from over the years, and he definitely has a certain intensity and confidence in the ways he carries and expresses himself.

There's risk involved in nearly everything you do. If this thing crashes and burns we'll just have to go in another direction. But I don't look for it to.

I do wonder if people are going to return to PBS right away. My assumption would be no.
It was miserable in the stands every game after the TB game.

9 of these 14 had a better record than what Marv did over the last 3 years, so odds are, we're in store for an improvement.
3 (21%) won super bowls
6 (43%) won a playoff game
I certainly like those odds over the 0% Marvin Lewis gave us.
The training, nutrition, medicine, fitness, playbooks and rules evolve. The athlete does not.

I can imagine; on TV, it looked quite empty.
I'll be making my way back down this year for the first time since '15, if things go well financially for me, this year.
And I'm definitely going to the Buffalo game!

That is interesting, better than i first thought they would be honestly. Thought it was more of a new thing since McVay has done so well but looks like there were quite a few younger coaches that did well. Wyche was pretty young when we hired him, hope it turns out somewhat like that with Taylor.

I hope so, but I'm skeptical. Starting on the road and snagging a win or two would help.
Just can't see people coming back in droves solely because of a new coaching staff.

The draft always excites people.
But, they'll also need to bring in 2-3 quality free agents. No real way around it. I'm not talking about 5 year $100 million contracts...but we need to add some Tier B and C free agents.

You have every right to be skeptical. A month ago I lost all interest in this season, now I'm ready for next season already.

The only thing that worries me at this point regarding Zac Taylor is his limited options for selecting competent coaching assistants, especially the offensive and defensive coordinators.
