Revoke security clearances . . .

Yes, from killing to jailing the logical next step would be revoking security clearances.  All aboard the hyperbole train!

Thinking about it I guess I could see some higher ups keeping it for a while in case the new person needed some assistance. They have knowledge on ongoing cases or investigations or what have you.

Security clearance goes beyond just government positions. Military contractors and other government contractors all have security clearance at varying levels depending on the types of work they do with the government. Those clearances are very valuable as they are expensive to get and the back log to get them now is years, so that industry is struggling to find people that already have them. The reason Trump is going after their clearances is because it impacts their ability to work in these industries and therefor hurts their income. Simply having the clearances doesn't give you access to some database with all sorts of secret information, it simply means you can interact with sensitive information if presented with it.

I'll have to ask my dad to refresh my memory, but I think he said he retained his after he served for a period of time but that he had to never talk about what he saw/did forever.

He was in Germany during Vietnam tracking things on radar and such.

He only did his four years and then got out but I still seem to remember him saying there was a time frame involved there.

No other President in America history has been so petty. But I guess they better be happy he didn't negotiate a deal to have them shipped to Putin to interrogate........

Or maybe he did. No one knows what all Trump gave up (besides Ukraine and Syria) to Putin in their secret no notes no Americans 2 hour meeting.

John Brennan’s security clearance was revoked today by Trump because of his “erratic” behavior.

He may also revoke the security clearances of Sally Yates, James Comey, Peter Strzok, Susan Rice, Andrew McCabe, and James Clapper or everyone he has partisan beef with.

That's it? That's everyone he has a partisan beef with? Only 8 folks; he's much more neutral than the vast majority of the American population.

It's only good for two years, and it's basically so that a person with a security clearance can get another job that requires a security clearance without having to get a new one. If you don't get another job that uses your clearance, it expires and you'd have to go through the whole process from scratch to get a new one.

It costs the government something like $10-15k from start to finish to get someone a Secret clearance last I knew, so it allows them to save money by hiring people who they have already cleared.... Otherwise you'd serve your time in the Army as an IT Specialist or something, have a clearance, get out, and 6 months later try to get hired on as a civilian contractor for DoD or some other government agency, or even a defense contractor, and they'd have to do the whole $10-15k expense and time sink of the background checks.

As a side benefit, it's also an extra little boon that the armed forces get when they transition to civilian life, since if you have two people applying for a job, and one already has a security clearance while the other doesn't, it's a pretty easy choice.

I find it interesting that sites like Drudge aren't even mentioning this story.

Speaking of not talking about it...

Quote:Paul Ryan: Trump is just 'trolling' people with threat to strip security clearances

Editor's note: This story originally published on July 24.

House Speaker Paul Ryan on Tuesday attempted to downplay President Donald Trump's threat to revoke security clearances of former national security officials who have criticized him, brushing it off as just "trolling."

"I think he's trolling people honestly," the Wisconsin Republican said at his weekly news conference on Capitol Hill.

Ryan says the issue is something in the purview of the executive branch, not Congress.

On Monday, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said that Trump is considering stripping a half-dozen former national security officials who served during the Obama administration of their security clearances, calling their public commentary about the ongoing Russia probe inappropriate.

The list of former officials under consideration includes former CIA Director John Brennan, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former FBI Director James Comey, former national security adviser Susan Rice, former deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe and former National Security Agency Director Michael Hayden, according to Sanders.

"They've politicized, and in some cases, monetized their public service," Sanders told reporters Monday.
"Making baseless accusations of an improper relationship with Russia is inappropriate."

When they leave government, national security officials routinely maintain their security clearances, partly to consult with those who replace them about ongoing situations or issues. Officials also use their clearances to obtain high-paying consulting positions in the private sector.

"Partisan" beef with huh?
Do you know you've just incriminated this lovely bunch?

People positions of law and justice aren't supposed to be partisan, obviously they've made it clear that they are...you just acknowledged it.

You're supposed to be oblivious to the fact that they were Hillary supporters and Trump haters, and because it's clear that they were was why we have just experienced corruption like we've never seen before.

You have this supposedly full of integrity Robert Mueller who if he really had integrity would have shut this Russian hoax investigation down after 2 weeks...and instead began investigating Brennan, Comey, Strzok, Hillary, the DNC, Clapper, Ohr and his wife, McCabe, the Obama DOJ, the Obama FBI etc...that is were the criminal activity was. This is where the collusion was. That is where attempts to stack the deck against a presidential candidate was.

But Mueller cant do that because then he would be investigating himself.

He's gotten so desperate looking for stuff he's now investigating whores and prostitutes.
