Scott Schebler has become a solid starter

Last year he hit 30 home runs in only 473 at bats.  His HR rate has dropped a bit this year (11 in 243) but all of his other stats have improved. 


Among NL outfielders with enough plate appearances to qualify Schebler ranks 13th in batting avg (.276), 11th in on base percentage (.350), 7th in slugging (.473) and 11th in OPS (slg + ob%).  His batting average and on base percentage are both up over 40 points from last year while his slugging percentage is almost identical.

He is only 27 and plays good defense.  Lets hope this year is not just a fluke and he can produce like this for a few more seasons.

Should make a nice trade chip. The future of the outfield is looking like Siri, Trammel and Winker.

Siri is hitting .208 in AA with 24 strike outs in only 53  at bats.  And it has only taken him 6 years in the minors to get to that level.

Sure got to get rid of a 27 year old hitting .276 in the majors to make room for that guy.

I have a feeling the Reds might trade an outfielder by the trade deadline. Could be Schebler. I would expect some decent prospects for pitching for him.

Well of course Siri isn’t ready this year, but Winker is, which makes one of the other three (Duvall, Hamilton and Schebler) potential trade chips.

Trammell will probably be ready next year and maybe even this September. Not to mention, Senzel could end up in the outfield, too.

Siri probably isn’t ready until 2020, , but picking out stats from his first 53 ABs isn’t showing the big picture. 24 homeruns and 46 steals last season with an .871 OPS and 3 homeruns in his last 10 games shows his true potential. Six years in the minors and still only 22.
