State Dept set to redefine "Human Rights" with help of anti-LGBT activist

Pompeo is working to have the State Department create a commission that will redefine the way the department interprets the idea of "human rights", making them inline with the idea of "natural rights and law".

One of the biggest influences on this commission is Robert George, founder of an anti-LGBT group and an author known for his arguments against LGBT rights.

The idea is to suggest that LGBT rights come at the cost of religious freedom, a ludicrous claim with no basis in fact. Suggesting that two men can being married infringes on an uninvolved third party's freedom of religion is of course completely bogus.

The country continues to takes steps backwards with commissions like this.

Igniting further concern about the project is the fact that the department's Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor was not consulted in the process, two sources told ABC News.

"The wording of the Commission's mandate raised eyebrows with human rights advocates and congressional staff. The fact that it was announced with no prior outreach to or input from the human rights community immediately raised concerns over its motives..."

I hope he means what he says, but it is impossible to tell with Trump.  His VP supports discrimination based on sexual orientation, so it seems like he is trying to play both sides of the fence.

I guess by "global campaign" he means gargling the balls of two of the worst world leaders when it comes to LGBT rights (Putin, Abdullah Al Saud).

He has done exactly zero to support LGBT people since his election.

Restricting adoption rights for LGBT couples.

Appointed Neil Gorsuch to the SC after he wrote a dissent in the Obergfell case that legalized same sex marraige.  Has also appointed many lower level federal judges who oppose equal rights for the LGBTQ community.

Anyone that denies healthcare to someone because of the patient's sexual orientation should be ashamed.

Anyone that restricts a gay couple to adopt should remain silent on Pro Life issues

But after Friday, anyone with gender dysphoria who is taking hormones or has already undergone a gender transition will not be allowed to enlist. Further, any currently serving troops diagnosed with gender dysphoria after this date will have to serve in their sex as assigned at birth and will be barred from taking hormones or getting gender-affirming surgery.

The new transgender military policy was ignited by a series of surprise tweets made by President Donald Trump almost two years ago. His abrupt Twitter announcement caught the Pentagon off-guard and essentially forced the Defense Department to implement the ban — even though the president himself has only talked about it twice publicly in the last two years.


Trump dodged a shouted question on July 26, 2017, the day of his tweets, but addressed the issue Aug. 10.

“I have great respect for the community. I think I have great support — or I've had great support from that community. I got a lot of votes,” he told reporters. “But the transgender — the military is working on it now. They're doing the work. It's been a very difficult situation. And I think I'm doing a lot of people a favor by coming out and just saying it. As you know, it's been a very complicated issue for the military. It's been a very confusing issue for the military. And I think I'm doing the military a great favor.”

NBC News questioned Trump last October about his campaign promise to protect transgender people, in light of the ban and other news related to how his administration had been looking at defining gender under federal civil rights law.



“We’re looking at it. We have a lot of different concepts right now,” he said at the time. “They have a lot of different things happening with respect to transgender right now. You know that as well as I do, and we're looking at it very seriously.”


When asked a follow-up question about his “promise to protect the LGBTQ community,” Trump replied: “I’m protecting everybody.”

When told that “transgender Americans say you’ve given up on them,” Trump added: “You know what I'm doing? I'm protecting everybody. I want to protect our country.”

While Trump’s policy restricting transgender military service starts Friday, there are still four lawsuits pending against the policy.


Shannon Minter, the legal director for the National Center for Lesbian Rights, one of the LGBTQ advocacy groups fighting the policy, said the legal battle is “far from over.”


“All four cases are proceeding,” he said last month. “Just because an injunction is lifted, doesn’t mean case is over.”


Army Staff Sgt. Patricia King, the first openly transgender infantry soldier in the military, is among those still working to fight the new policy from within.


“I know we are facing an uphill battle," King said shortly after she testified before Congress last month, but “my goal is to right this wrong."

But at least "anyone" should be ashamed of a couple other things.

How excited Trump supporters and defenders must be to soon be able to treat gay people inhumane.

They must be gleefully discussing what they will do first. Kick them out their homes, refuse services, assault them, verbally attack them, spit at them, the options must feel endless. The excitement must be overwhelming to them.

As I thought. There's no policy for kicking out LBGT Soldiers. Also they can enlist under the new policy, you just can't medically alter your sex. 

Personally I don't have an issue with anyone who wants to serve being allowed to and all have my respect. I just wanted to make sure we were clear on the whole "kicking folks out" policy.
