These lists below were created through my own research using information from ProfootballReference.com.  I have never been able to find these leader lists compiled anywhere else.

Yards from scrimmage = rushing yard + receiving yards

Top 10 All-time leaders in single-season yards-from-scrimmage per game

Priest Holmes, 2002............. 163.4
O.J. Simpson, 1975.............. 160.2
Le'Veon Bell, 2016................ 157.0
Chris Johnson, 2009............. 156.8 (#1 single season total 2509 in 16 games)
Marshall Faulk, 2000............. 156.4
Marshall Faulk, 2001............. 153.4
Marshall Faulk, 1999............. 151.8
Walter Payton, 1977............. 151.5
C. McCaffrey, 2019............... 149.5
Tiki Barber, 2005.................. 149.4

In a three year stretch from 2001-03 Priest Holmes scored 66 tds in just 38 games; broke Simpson's single-season record for yards from scrimmage per game, Emmitt Smith's single-season record for rushing tds, and Marshall Faulk's single-season record for total tds,


All Purpose yds = yards from scrimmage + punt ret yds + Kick-off ret yds

This list is for all you short guys out there.  Ten of those 13 players are less than 6 feet tall.  Five of them are under 5'10" (Holmes 5'9", Mutryn 5'9", Lewis 5'8", Sproles 5'6", Herron 5'5")

Where does LaDainian Tomlinson fall on that list. Maybe he wasn't as good as a receiver as I remember.

Good question.

Tomlinson just missed this list.  He had 148.1 yards per game in '03 and 145.2 in '06.

He was a great receiver out of the backfield.  he had 100 catches for 725 yards in '03.
