TDN - Who can guard Kyle Pitts?
#1
TheDraftNetwork posted an article today mentioning that Kyle Pitts is going to be such a unicorn that it's very likely only a select few defenders in the NFL could even stand a chance to cover him.

The players they list as possibilities:
- Derwin James, LAC
- Jalen Ramsey, LAR
- Jeremy Chinn, CAR
- Fred Warner, SF
- Isaiah Simmons, ARZ

Note that out of that list, none are the AFC North, and only one in the AFC period. 3 of the 5 are in the NFC West.

If the Bengals select him I'll be hoping he's as good or better than advertised. But let the guy at least play a down before christening him the GOAT. Vernon Davis put up better combine numbers than Pitts did at his Pro Day, but he really never became a consistently dominant force in the league. I know Pitts is longer and taller.

I wonder if there was a "who can guard John Ross?" article after he ran his fast 40. Turned out the answer was anyone.

The answer to that is Safety Tyree Gillespie. He basically shut Pitts down.

It's about current NFL people, not incoming players.

I haven't watched close enough to keep track of who Jessie Bates was specifically covering during games. Did he cover TEs often? And did he cover guys who were as fast and big as Pitts?

I'm not sure how well he'd cover someone who was 4 inches taller, 45 lbs bigger, and faster than him.

I was just being a biased homer lol. Who knows really. Pitts is a beast for sure, and I was surprised to learn a college S actually shut him down.

Part of me is kinda hoping two of Sewell, Pitts, and Chase are gone so it's an easy decision that won't have a debate.
However, if two of those guys are selected, it would mean only 2 QBs would be selected, so the appeal to trade back would be increased.
