I could see Allen being a solid TE3 or maybe one day a TE2 on a team. I don't see him ever becoming a future starter though.

I think at one point in his college career, he was playing at a much lighter weight?
I've seen some game footage where he looks a lot thinner than 250-260 lbs where he's at now.

I like him late if we haven’t already addressed TE or if we are looking to double dip at the spot and maybe stash him on the PS for a year.
He’s a BIG dude, can make contested catches and not afraid to take a hit in traffic if the pass is coming his way. He will have trouble getting open at the next level though. I think he’s underrated/undervalued in the draft process (maybe nfl teams won’t agree with the undrafted ranking the analysts are giving- we will see) and could at least be developed into a good red zone specialist.

The need to draft players at those positions is higher than you think. Under the current defensive system, Safeties are a high priority, actually higher than having top shelf CBs. With the Bengals having a huge number invested in that position group, if they see a Safety that fits their skill set needs, I'd be prepared to see him drafted.
As far as WRs go? We have a genuine franchise QB, along with a set of stellar WRs. You'd better be prepared to see them all leave for huge money elsewhere at some point. The bench stock on WRs on this team is pretty low, so don't be surprised to see WR in the 2-4th rounds.

They seem to be paying particular attention to the TE class in this year's scouting, so we'll see if there's fire where there's smoke. If they plan on diversifying the play calling to include TE as a 1st option, all bets are off on when they might select one.

Yep, We have the big 3 then it kinda falls off a cliff. I'd be surprised if we don't grab a WR in there.
As far as TE I'm not sure they'll view it as a big need ?

Well TBH our TE room has been nothing all that great for a few years now since Eifert was healthy. Uzo developed into a decent TE but he is gone. We signed Hurst and now this class has a few TE's that can help us now and in the future. And if we have to move on from Boyd/and or Mixon a TE will become more valuable in our offense IMO.

He's more than decent, he's a tremendous athlete. Do not be surprised when he has one of those so-called "break out" years with the Jets this season. The Bengals just never utilized him to his potential, as they haven't featured a TE as a primary weapon in their offensive scheme. Hayden Hurst is also a talented player, but we will see how the Bengals intend to use the TE as a primary weapon, going forward.

I was thinking safety might be a higher need than people realize. But with some of our other needs and the fact there seems to be several quality safeties that will be available on day 3 that could hopefully do some spot duty this year and then develop into a starter.
WR again I do think is a big need and if we trade back and add some picks I would be all for picking one in the 2-4 rds. But I still would rather other positions as it stands now.
TE is probably the position I would like the least at least early. There has been some signs they are interested in some of the higher rated TE's but I'm hoping that's more just due diligence than real interest. I just think we don't use the TE enough and the fact it usually takes TE's awhile to contribute. The superbowl window is open with Burrow but the defense is what got us there and we need to strike while we have the pieces in place. So to me that gives us a two to three year window and I would rather get pieces to help this year.
I'm really hoping RDS 1-5 are defense outside of Oline and maybe WR.

The problem is they signed another TE who is just as good as him and they're gonna draft a WR in round 1 from what I've read. So he's gonna be another 3rd or 4th option there as well..

If Taylor has shown us anything about a TE, he's more than happy to spend a 2nd rounder on a TE2 who is primarily just a blocker
