The “Golf on Your Own Damn Dime Act of 2019"

A former Obama ethics staffer jokingly proposed the “Golf on Your Own Damn Dime Act of 2019", though I think this is something we can all get behind.

With Trump hitting over 180 days spent golfing in 2.5 years and costing the tax payers $100m for these trips to courses he owns (179 of 181 days spent on his own courses), it may be time to reign in this costly past time.

While only half the days spent golfing (and a third of the cost), Obama too golfed roughly 90 days in his first 2.5 years at the cost of roughly $30m. Still quite a costly past time even if his trips were to military golf courses.

Perhaps the solution is a golf course (probably putt putt) at the White House rather than a bowling alley. No more expensive motorcades and air travel.

To me, the job has some perks and some drawbacks. One of the drawbacks being you lose a significant chunk of personal freedom.

I think Presidents should get some kind of reasonable rec budget to cover their 'down time' expenses. But that budget would probably cover one or two personal excursions a year, not weekly trips.

Trump, like most elected people, is out of touch with the majority of Americans. While it's no big deal for him to go on a leisure trip every other week, that's insane to most Americans.

I've had the honor and pleasure of playing the Eisenhower coarse at the Air Force academy on several occasions. Compared tho the bullshit bronx track adorning daddy's moniker, it would eat his lunch; and why he'll never play it.
