Third Down Defense Needs Improvement
#1
Oh yes. The third down defense was horrible today; the middle of the field was more open than a 24 hour Denny’s. Fix that and the Bengals will go very far in the playoffs.

No it doesn't.

We didn't have a pass rush for 25 minutes of clock and had only 6 healthy lineman.

What we need to fix is Red Zone offense. We should have had 12 more points.

ZT and Callahan need to get together and figure out how to call plays with the game on the line. The run up the gut on 1st and 10 and run again was just unacceptable.

Agreed. We squandered a lot of opportunities to go up big on their mistakes.

In the end 3rd (and 4th) down defense won the game.

Last Raider drive ended with stops on both 3rd and 4th down.

Previous drive ended with stop on third down to force FG

I agree there were a few ugly plays, but overall our pass defense, which I consider "3rd down defense" was pretty effective.  Raiders averaged less than 5 yards per pass play (57 ply 282 yds).
