Trade for San Diego CB Craig Mager?
#1
I was just looking around for rotational DBs who also can return kicks and punts and this is what I came up with. Craig Mager is a backup CB entering his second year in San Diego drafted with the 83 pick overall. College stats (note that he doesn't have a huge body of work returning, but what he does have is impressive):

NFL first year:

He may not have seen much playtime in his 10 games with only 8 tackles but having a couple of passes defended is noteworthy for a mid round rotational rookie.

First preseason game (3 tackles and a kick return for 31 yards):

Not sure what they would want for him. Maybe give them Paul Dawson (they have needs in the middle of the defense) with a future draft pick? Or Tyler Kroft straight up (they just lost their backup TE Jeff Cumberland to a serious injury)? I realize that we're without Eiffert for the first few games this year but Uzo is looking fine, and if all our TEs our healthy you basically have too many on the roster (don't forget Hewitt at FB). At the very least I'm far more concerned about our corner depth this year than I am our TE depth.

Dennard is working out again. We have plenty of depth at the position. we can survive 1 hurt player that wasn't gonna play much his rookie year.

Why would we want to give Tyler Croft away, with the return date of Tyler Eifert being an uncertainty?

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations
