Well wtf.

That’s how I pick who I’m going to vote for. Platform and character.

Maybe that’s why I don’t get Trump voters. So what are you guys picking your candidates by? Craziest looking hairdo and tan?

??  Say What ??

I've always assumed you would cast your vote for Trump based upon your understanding of his platform and character.

How did I go wrong? Upon what are you really basing your judgment?

I base my judgement upon whatever candidate I feel will enact or leverage to enact policies that will benefit my family's financial situation. In other words, I vote with my wallet, and Biden has cost me plenty.

My question too.

I mean, there may be people who vote for Trump because orange is their favorite color,

or Biden because he looks like a favorite uncle,

but people in this forum are arguing over platform and character because they think

that's what determines votes:   Platform and character.

Or why would people deny Trump attempted a coup, and insist he would be better for the economy even if he did?

Looks like you are voting for a platform then.

That's also a decision about character, about what you'll accept in a representative of the nation.

But now that I have your attention, maybe you can explain what you think would be different about

your family's situation right now had Trump been re-elected. By what benchmark do you calculate what Biden has cost you?

I feel relatively certain that he would have had his people write policy to curb the stark rise in essentials for Americans, like food (grocery store) and energy (both household and transportation).

That got me wondering--what sort of policies could a president's people write and implement that curb the stark rise in prices for essentials?

Also are there others out there who think that Biden has not sought to do this?

Just wondering if maybe, and to what degree, the difference seen between the candidates is really is a difference in policy specifics.

While I'll admit that Trump has turned the GOP upon its ear and we never know what the guy is going to do, the idea that he would enact such sweeping and overwhelming regulations upon businesses seems like the opposite of what I'd expect from 40+ years of republican supply-side economic policy.

I'm a bit rusty, but I think what you are describing is Keynesian economics, and the idea that the government needs to intervene so the people can have a "fair shot" against market forces is way too socialist-adjacent for this country to accept.  Then again, if Trump did it I guess a lot of people who normally hate the idea of government regulations would approve of it, so damn...Trump could legit be the dude who undoes 40+ years of Reaganomic damage to this country.  Of course, that's why I wouldn't see him doing it.  It's easier when a republican is in office to say "Can't afford stuff?  Quit being a dumbass and choosing to be poor."  That's pretty much what Reagan said, so again Trump doing a 180 from what the GOP has been doing my whole life would be pretty interesting, to say the least.

I'm not going to lay the blame all on Biden for inflation atm, but he certainly hasn't helped himself to ward it off.
It's more a product of Congress not being able to agree on much, and when they do, time is still needed to implement the changes.
