Trump's financial disclosure
#1

Cliff notes below.

Quote:President Donald Trump's attorneys initially wanted him to submit an updated financial disclosure without certifying the information as true, according to correspondence with the Office of Government Ethics.

The documents indicate that after OGE pushed back, Trump now plans to certify the information by mid-June. But his attorney's effort to sidestep certification of his personal financial disclosure marks another departure from the norm. Each year, the OGE processes thousands of those forms, all of which are certified.

The certification means that if a person knowingly included incorrect financial information, the OGE can seek a civil penalty such as a fine, or even make a referral to the Justice Department for criminal prosecution.

Why wouldn't someone want to sign off on their financial statements as true and accurate?

Maybe Trump realizes that he has no clue about his own investments?  He's just the guy barking orders to family to make sure the brand looks good.  But he insists he was in charge and knew everything ("very smart") so he's already opened his mouth and doesn't want to be caught in (another) lie?

Submitting a financial statement and refusing to sign it is as good as admitting it is a lie.

JOHN ROBERTS: From time to time in the years to come, I hope you will be treated unfairly so that you will come to know the value of justice... I wish you bad luck, again, from time to time so that you will be conscious of the role of chance in life and understand that your success is not completely deserved and that the failure of others is not completely deserved either.

While we are all talking about the financial disclosure, Trump's tax forms still sit with the IRS. No one has seen them.

By the way, for all you Trump haters, the disclosure certifies that he has absolutely no Russia assets, almost.

Should the thread title read, "Trump's lack of financial disclosure"?

I think the only rule is that it has to have Trump in the title.

Just about everything that Trump attacked Obama and Clinton on during the campaign, he has done the same thing and in some cases worse (golfing).
If he was legit he would of released his tax forms. They probably would reveal that he has paid no taxes since 2005, dealings with Russia, expose that he is not as rich as he claims and list all the right offs for his bankruptcies. He is making a mockery of the Presidency and fools out most of the spineless Republican congress.
Other than that he is great President.
