I agree with you -- especially when it comes to blocking.  Yes, we love tight ends who can run routes and catch balls over the middle in traffic but if a team has a weak offensive line -- and Cincinnati does -- having a blocking tight end becomes crucial.

Could be possible that they offered the two the same deal and CJ jumped on it first. It's happened before.

I would have kept CJ over Kroft anyway. Then Draft a TE in day one or two of the draft. Might want to grab another in the late rounds also.

Kroft is decent in the short underneath stuff.
