Breaking down WHY the Bengals love 1st round corners
#1
Kind of interesting. We all know it started with J-Jo in '06.
It actually goes back further with Marvin.

I hate to say it, but after the 1st round CB's tend to fall off big time. Not always but for the most part in my opinion.

Nice article!

Confirms what I thought. And it makes a lot of sense. Having guys with the talent and skill to play on an isle frees up other guys on the D for other things. Our safeties don't have to help double-up on guys as much as other safeties in the league, and that leaves them more free to pick up TE's, ballhawk, blitz, shadow RB's ... whatever you need them for. This is a place where a good, versatile safety can really shine, IMO.

I like that we have been developing this "competition-for-the-job"-like culture at CB. We've had quite a bit of success at picking and developing WR's on the other side of the ball.
