West Virginia taking a step in the opiate fight
#1
I live in a county bordering WV, so I get a lot of news out of there. This is a story about a naval base that we used to have a lot of sailors and marines living in my town to work there. It closed down, and is now going to be used for a drug treatment facility.

What's good is that Appalachia has been hit hard by this opiate epidemic. I'll save all of my harping about racial disparities in the way we look at drug issues and just say that treating this as a public health situation is the right move and I wish them luck.

That's excellent.

I hate to keep referencing NPR but there was a blurb this past week about drug usage in Appalachia versus some inner cities.  I have it on at work so I can't remember the whole thing but obviously it is more a socioeconomic problem than a racial one.
