#21
Does Joe burrow have a brother?

I like case keenum. Someone like him. Or a Fitzpatrick type.

I guess I need to watch some tape of Zac Taylor at Nebraska to see if he would make a good backup in an emergency.

Now lets face it in the game of football injuries do happen whether its offseason or in games they happen! Its a given. Is this team ready for a season ending situation with Joe?
Who's the next man up... I truly believe that this has to be the year to not only draft a guy but to pick up a proven veteran. Thoughts..These are a few mid to late rounders that I like coming out in the 2023 draft.

Aidan O Connell QB Purdue

Hendon Hooker QB Tennessee

Jake Haener QB Fresno State

* Dorian Thompson Robinson QB UCLA

I know I left prospects like Max off the list but I couldn't list them all. WE NEED AN ADEQUATE BACKUP IN 2023!

I get that you don't want to hear it in April but It could very well cost us a season. Its the harsh reality to the cold fact of football. Well this could never happen to us & Joe.
Well lets just say this If I'm the only on thinking about this April 7th of 2023 them we're in trouble.

No rookie out of college is going to be an ADEQUATE BACKUP IN 2023!!!!

A smart QB is what I want. One that can feel the pocket and avoid pressure and not throw interceptions.

I call this the "Collarbone QB". One of the only situations (maybe the only one?) where it might matter who's stepping in. Because if Joey B gets any other injury that forces him to sit for an extended period (e.g., knee, concussion, illness, etc.), he probably shouldn't come back anyway and you might as well tank the season. Or just call up Chad to do the honors and have some fun with it.

I know there are a few other cases- like where he might need to go to the locker room for an equipment issue or under the tent for a minute or two- but every team has an emergency playbook to handle those. I wouldn't be drafting (or signing guys off the street) for them. This team begins and ends with Burrow. Yes it's a defeatist philosophy but whatever. Nick Foles, Jeff Hostetler... they succeeded because their teams were already looking past their QB1s to some extent. The Bengals aren't, and won't be for the foreseeable future. I'm cool with it.
