What if scenario

If he ends up with another 1000 yard season like how rookie year what do we do? I personally am.hoping for a stud rb in the draft ala cook or mixon but that's neither here nor there. The Bengals would be in a tough spot. 2 horrible seasons 2 great seasons.I personally would let him walk. What would you do?

Let him go easily. He has an unforgiving running style and has shown to lack necessary skills as a runner. You can let go of any RBs like him unless they are a generational talent

He can work on his game, but the true "fix" will be the OL. No matter if it's vision, instinct or being indecisive he has to hit the hole quick...but there won't be one if the line doesn't improve. Taking either stud talent early, or hoping Hill will improve his game is short sighted if the line doesn't improve.

Hill sucks and cost us a playoff win. Don't just let him walk, kick his ass out the door.

I was on this line of thinking too until late last year. Gio and Rex ran behind the same line  and they were better and it was quite noticeable. Not saying any of them are in a great situation but when 2 out of 3 can do something behind the line it kind of shows one of the 3 is doing something wrong.

As to the question, I think we draft a HB this year in the first 4 rounds and it spells the end of Hill. I think even if Hill wasn't having the issues he does it would be hard to sign him. We already paid Gio a decent contract extension, the only other team in the last decade I can think of that gave two backs extensions at the same time was Carolina and that ended up hurting them cap wise a year or two after they did it.

You know, I liked what I saw in Burkhard. I did not like what I saw in Hill. That's it.

I have no idea what they saw on Hill's pre-draft film, but they must have been impressed. Otherwise, a poor selection. He is young and can find another team so I think they should let him go (as in cut). Sure Mikey will cringe at the thought of giving away a comp pick. But if Burkhead, Gio and (PS) Carson can't do the job, there are always stop-gap RBs at home. Burkhead made the most of his opportunity and deserves a chance to play more snaps.

Besides, I think the OL is a mess, in spite of Burkhead's success last season, and needs fixed!

If they think they could fix him, why did it take 3 years? AKA, I call BS.

He has no vision, and refuses to run N/S. The OL is bad, but the other two RBs did better behind the exact same bad OL.

Good RBs come out of the draft yearly, in all the rounds. The last two drafts have produced 6 Pro-Bowl RBs, including 2 1st Team All-Pro and 1 2nd Team All-Pro. Those RBs were taken: 3 1st Rounders, 1 3rd Rounder, 2 5th Rounders. 2014 only produced one, but he was a 4th rounder. 2013 produced FOUR Pro Bowl RBs. 2nd x2, 6th x1, UDFA x1. That's 11 Pro Bowl RBs in the last 4 years. Only 3 of the 11 coming in the 1st round, and 5 coming in the 4th or later round.

It's silly to spend money on any RB you have questions about, and there's a lot of questions about Hill. Even if he has a great season in '17, who are you going to get in '18? The guy who looked good when contract money was on the line, or the guy who looked truly awful in back-to-back years where no money was on the line?

I hope they don't think they can fix him. It sounded like they were ready to relegate him to a goalie specialist role at the end of the season, which would be fine with me. It's unfortunate if they've changed their minds. I don't believe the o-line is great at run blocking by any means, but at the same time, I think it's on Hill just as much as it's on them. He sucks and Burkhead's performance behind an even more depleted line showed him for what he is.

I was on Hill's bandwagon for quite awhile, I'm not anymore. I fully understand the O-line sucks ! But Hill's problems are more than just bad blocking IMHO. And I hope we draft a RB in the upper rounds.

Nice work on the rb stats.  I don't know if it was Rex doing what he was supposed to, the libe blocking better for him or the Ravens dogging it but it was the same line the hill plodded behind all year.  I'm hoping for Mixon or Kamara dropping to the 4th.

Would be nice to get the 12th pick from Cleveland for McCarron to use on a RB, if not Kamara in the 2nd or Foreman/McNichols in the 4th. Hill brings back the days of bad Rudi or BJGE/Hearst/Harold Green. I have a feeling we will keep him around longer than we should just like we have in the past.

I can't defend Hill and attack the Oline. Like everyone else said, Rex and Gio proved the line can run block given a good rb.

Hill will stay, but only because Gio's health is up in the air.

Apparently he's only supposed to miss 1 game.

Hey Bengal fans do you guys think you can beat us in Lambeau next season? It will be a great game and look forward to it. I hope you win the Superbowl if we don't win it all.

Burkhead and Gio for the most part ran decent with the same exact o line.

Hill kinda sucked last year just being honest. I love Hill's energy so this is hard to say.

He always hesitates causing the D to be there by the time he makes the move hes gonna make.
