We had 22 voters (I couldn’t get Dino’s and Natley’s images to display) so to get a majority a candidate needs 12.

Initial results:
Clinton: .5 (we had one person that had a tie for top)
Trump: 5
Johnson: 7
Stein: 9.5
Castle: 0

So Castle and Clinton are eliminate and Clinton’s .5 vote goes to Stein. So now we are at:
Stein:10
Johnson: 7
Trump: 5

The next person eliminated is Trump. After redistributing his votes our final results were:
Johnson: 11
Stein: 11

So now what do we do, besides realize that there is no way this forum will elect the next President?
Realize that the statical chance of a tie when there are millions of voters is in all practicality 0, and then also realize that the voting system we have now could theoretically have a tie so it's not like that's some new problem, and then finally recognize that two of the most incompetent politicians didnt make it to the final ballot and that's the biggest victory in itself. In the highly unlikely event that the last 2 candidates get 50 percent exactly though, I'd guess that there would be a recount and then if its still tied a final revote between the two candidates.

How did you determine how to redistribute the Trump votes?  Why did Johnson got 4 and Stein get 1?

I went to the #2 choice for everyone that voted for Trump. 4 had Johnson, 1 had Stein, which makes sense. I was actually surprised someone had Trump 1 and Stein 2.

LMAO I just realized the I misunderstood your vote count post you made earlier in the thread. When you said there's no way this forum will elect the next president, I thought you meant the alternative vote as a forum. As in you're saying it was no good. You're literally saying there's no way this Bengals Forum could elect the next president. Sorry for the slightly passive-aggressive tone.

It's good. I was merely commenting on the fact that Stein and Johnson tied, while our next President got 1/2 a vote.

SOCIALISM! COMMUNISM! EVIL! DIE! (This is the response you will get from most of America, not my response.)

No question it is a better way, which is why America will be the last country to adopt it.

I wish you bad luck, again, from time to time so that you will be conscious of the role of chance in life and understand that your success is not completely deserved and that the failure of others is not completely deserved either.

Quote:Maine Ranked Choice Voting Initiative, Question 5 (2016)

Ranked-choice voting (RCV) is also known as instant-runoff voting. If approved, ranked-choice voting would be used to elect U.S. senators, U.S. representatives, the governor, state senators, and state representatives.[1]

Question 5 defines ranked-choice voting as "the method of casting and tabulating votes in which voters rank candidates in order of preference, tabulation proceeds in sequential rounds in which last-place candidates are defeated and the candidate with the most votes in the final round is elected."[1]
As of August 2016, there were no states that used ranked-choice voting for standard statewide elections. Currently all states use the method of voting that allows voters to choose one candidate, and the candidate with the most votes in a single round of voting is elected.

Hopefully Maine can get this initiative passed and really set the bar for the other states in regards to true democratic representation.
