Will We Get a Mike Brown Press Conference This Year?
#1
So, I could be wrong, but I had previously thought that Mike Brown always gave an end of the year press conference the week after the season ended.

His two annual appearances and media interactions were the end-of-year press conference and the media day thing they do in the summer (the one where they serve Mock Turtle Soup, and no I'm not joking). Outside of those two interactions, he's been known to make no other public statements.

Anways, last year we didn't get a press conference. I'm not sure if that's the first time that's happened, of it's just rare when it doesn't. But I was pretty surprised we didn't see one with the type of season we had.

So the question is, do we get one this year? Is Mike maybe just too old to be bothered to do this? (I can't blame an 84 year old man not wanting to get up to do a press conference)

I really hope we see something even if Mike isn't able to attend. Even if it's a Zoom thing with Katie and/or Duke Tobin, I want to see what this front office has to say for themselves. They at least owe this fanbase some insight into how the intend on moving forward and righthing the wrongs of these last two years.

That said, Mike also announces the Bengals will "very aggressively" kick tires in free agency:

Not too hard, you don't want to break the bead on the tire!

As Mikey says, "better to break the bead than to break the bank!".

I doubt it and that's ok. Let him subtly settle into his euchre group at Denny's. I don't like hearing him speaking.

No picture has given me more laughs over the years on JN than this one.  What's really funny is that every time the "kicking tires" thing gets brought up we all use the same exact google image.

I take credit for that one. I was the first. Smirk

Every time I bring up tire kicking, I always scroll google images to use the same pic.

It's tradition at this point. Hilarious

There are a few old, tired, and overused phrases I’m tired of hearing:

“We had lots of injuries to key players this year.” (So does everyone else.)

“Our new quarterback needs to ‘cut his teeth’ on the playbook.” (Joe Burrow experienced teething as a child.)

“We gained in a few statistical areas.” (The only statistics which matter are wins and losses.)

“We’ll ‘kick the tires’ in free agency. (Yeah, after all the best players are gone and only the cheap has-beens are left.)

They'll very aggressively think about kicking tires, maybe rims, but most likely buggy wheels then Mikey will have his spokesman announce they're just waiting for those new revolutionary triangular wheels to kick.

It only took ZT 2 years to have a season slightly better season than Marvin's worst season of 17. Progress.

Not familiar with Cincy area reporters. Is there anyone in the local media that actually takes these people to task and make hard hitting questions?

Back when I lived in the area (up til 2013) there really wasn't many who really went in hard on the Bengals. Paul Daugherty sometimes.

Not sure if that's changed since then. It's certainly not New York media.

Seems like WLW and Enquirer rag on them pretty hard.

Not even close. “What’s your favorite color?” or, “Gold Star or Skyline?” is as tough as it gets.

Didn't think so. Considering I never heard much, nationally, during the whole Marvin Lewis era, I figured there wasn't much in person pressure from the media on the Bengals coaching/ownership. No press conferences on NFL Network type stuff. I'm in the DC area. It's not NY media, but this area isn't known for being soft.

I think it's more of an announcement than a conference. As has been stated Mike doesn't like answering the tough questions.
