Scientists say to expect more records to fall this year as climate change and an emerging El Nino pattern make the mercury climb.

Quote:Monday was the hottest day ever recorded globally, according to data from the US National Centers for Environmental Prediction.

The average global temperature reached 17.01C (62.62F), surpassing the August 2016 record of 16.92C (62.46F) as heatwaves sizzled around the world.

The southern US has been suffering under an intense heat dome in recent weeks. In China, an enduring heatwave continued with temperatures above 35C (95F). North Africa has seen temperatures near 50C (122F).

Even Antarctica, currently in its winter, registered anomalously high temperatures. Ukraine’s Vernadsky Research Base in the white continent’s Argentine Islands recently broke its July temperature record with 8.7C (47.6F).

“This is not a milestone we should be celebrating,” said climate scientist Friederike Otto of the Grantham Institute for Climate Change and the Environment at Imperial College London.

“It’s a death sentence for people and ecosystems.”

Scientists said climate change combined with an emerging El Nino pattern was to blame.

“Unfortunately, it promises to only be the first in a series of new records set this year as increasing emissions of [carbon dioxide] and greenhouse gasses coupled with a growing El Nino event push temperatures to new highs,” said Zeke Hausfather, a research scientist at Berkeley Earth.

You mean the earth goes through climate cycles? Shocking. There has always been and always will be climate change. Forcing electric cars (which are not really green), banning NG in new homes, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc (tyrannical) will do nothing to stop the earth from going through it's natural cycles.

The sky is not falling.

But wait... What about our gas stoves?

I live in a hotplace and it's hotter every year more.
35-40°c

It was more 30-32 the past decade.

And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

In January New Hampshire set a new low temperature record for the US and I believe the worlds coldest town somewhere in Russia hit its lowest temperature in 20 or 30 years.

It's not a surprise that the climate is all messed up with all the weather control technology being used around the world.

No one is arguing that the Earth doesn't go through cycles. The argument is that the cycle has significantly increased since the industrial revolution. The natural cycle is speeding up significantly and will bring on an extinction level event if we don't do something to curb it. Now, this may not happen until after you're gone which may explain your apathetic attitude towards it but the "man-made" part of climate change is certainly real.
