Yesterday's National Anthem
#1
At the game yesterday a young girl who seemed to be blind sang the national anthem, and absolutely blew everyone out of the water! She was truly amazing, and I can't find anything on her. Does anyone know her story? Between the national anthem and the 4th quarter comeback, it was truly an incredible Sunday! WHODEY!!

Someone at the game said she was on Youtube. Not sure what her name is. She did do an amazing job.

I was moved to tears. Literally. After I saw that I thought to myself that a win would just be a bonus.

Wow was she good and congrats to her for overcoming her handicap, so glad to see a young person overcome their handicap and absolute rock what they do!

She's an inspiration for all.

I missed the performance at the game on TV so thanks for sharing.

Wow, I typically feel that part of the game ritual is just a waste of time, but the video was about as moving as a vocal performance can be. I can only assume it was similarly amazing at our game! What a great day for everyone attending.

The young lady did a wonderful job. My wife kept looking to see who was singing because she sounded like an adult. When I pointed to the little girl singing, my wife was amazed. Between the National Anthem and the Ohio State marching band, my wife was entertained. She doesn't care about football. She just goes because I enjoy the games.

I've got one of those too. Likes seeing the people and the pagentry of the whole thing but not interested in the outcome past what effect the outcome will have on my attitude.

That little girl really belted it out. If the cheap bastard had sprung for a flyover it would have been a perfect moment.

Flyovers aren't special if they happen at every game. Plus, as a great writer once pointed out, they are "America's favorite waste of tax dollars."

I left out one thing that I'll bet your wife probably enjoys. The people watching. Some fans have way too much to drink and it makes for some good spectating.

I would choose my words quite differently, but I have been waiting and waiting for a flyover.  Do you think that clown that "aimed" that giant plane at the stands for a second ruined these for life?

Oh, I could think of about a million more than flexing a little military muscle and energizing its countrymen.  Keep in mind, those planes are on daily exercises anyway.  Why not buzz a stadium?

I was at the game Sunday. I am a less than sappy guy. My thoughts....

1st: This girl can belt it out. Wow! She was so powerful for being so small. Just amazing!

2nd: Several Bengals players... I think Dunlap was the first one out there... went on the field and were congratulating her and were very supportive, excited, and fired up for how she had just performed. The Seahawks also all stood on their sideline and genuinely cheered and clapped for her when she was done. Not the typical after the anthem "Yeah, ok, clap some and lets get going" you typically see.

The whole scene was a feel good moment and she absolutely nailed the anthem big time. No question the most memorable performance of it I have ever seen live. Then, to look at the girl singing on the big screen, and then looking down and physically seeing how tiny she was and how she was escorted off to the cheers was just an awesome start to the game.

This was the second time she has sang the anthem at the Bengals game.  Both times, Bengals players came out to hug her, shake her hand afterwards.

As for the stupid cheap bastard thing....the Bengals have not done a flyover since the Giants game in 2012 when the plane literally came waaaaaaaaayyyyy to damn close to striking the scoreboard in the northwest corner of the stadium.  A lot of us in the stands knew that something had gone wrong and we were lucky that nothing major occurred.
