Interesting that after our fan presenter rightly dunks on both the Chiefs and Goodell the Stains presenter gives them a tongue bath. LMAO

Fair. I mean, it does not mean they won't explore other options, or make a mive in any of these areas. It just means they won't reach to make a move. They don't view it as a glaring need. If it doesn't work out, we can be fine with Jonah at RT, Mixon at RB, Smith as TE1, Sample as TE2, and Williams as RB2.

4 of those guys have been here a while. We know them.

But Williams clearly beat Evans out last year. Bith on KR and as being the active #3 on gameday. Evans could still be a scatback/receiver type. They may be comfortable with him as RB3.

BTW the Browns drafted another Purdue WR last year
And he failed to make plays.

Rondale Moore was having a really good 2022 before he got injured. A lot slot receivers aren’t supposed to have high yards per reception

RE: ***2023 NFL Draft Thread*** - CJD - 04-29-2023

Here's a few fun stats about Charlie Jones:

In his last 2 seasons, he's received 55 punts and did not muff a single punt. In his career, he's returned 77 punts for 8.1 yards on average and 1 touchdown.

He didn't return many kicks at Purdue for whatever reason, but in his 25 kick off returns at Iowa, he averaged 25.4 yards and had 1 touchdown.

In his final season (his breakout season with Purdue), he had 154 targets, led the FBS with 110 receptions and had just 3 drops (and 6 in his career with 149 total receptions). That may be the lowest drop percentage among wide receivers in the entire draft.
Just checking some quick numbers in Dane Brugler's Beast, JSN had 6 on 110 receptions, Addison had 23 on 219 receptions, Hyatt had 8 on 108, Zay Flowers 24 on 200, Quentin Johnston 13 on 115, Downs 14 on 202, Scott 10 on 87, Tillman 5 on 109, Mims 7 on 123, Reed 19 on 203, Rice 21 on 233, Mingo 13 on 112, Palmer 18 on 112, Perry 20 on 171, Dell 22 on 240, Hutchinson 13 on 254, Wilson 12 on 134, Boutte 16 on 131, Wicks 15 on 90, Washington 12 on 146, Iosivas 7 on 125, Tucker 10 on 112, Jarrett 16 on 119.

The only one I could find with a lower drop percentage is David Durden of West Florida who had 4 drops on 151 receptions.

There are 56 WRs in this draft guide and only one of them has better hands than Jones and he's a projected 7th round pick out of a tiny school. Also old (24.34) and is a kick and punt returner, so maybe he would have been an option in the 7th if we didn't get Jones haha.

Just seems odd given how the Bengals have treated the draft and free agency up until this pick (young players who won't be 30) and he goes against all that.

That said, maybe they see him as a great player and is worth going against convention. Obviously we need a 4th WR so if he's an upgrade over Irwin it's still a win.

He’s definitely an upgrade over Irwin but he’s also a huge money value on Boyd when we need it next year. So many of these picks are structuring for the ‘24 salary cap.

He was up and down vs Joey Porter in week one. If Porter was pressing Jones didnt have a chance. Against DJ Turner though who is more finesse than physical he set a big 12 record.

Simmons has mentioned that he wants to get more dynamic at punt returner. This is probably the biggest resource we've ever given to Simmons in terms of a PR since he's been here.

True, that is definitely a negative for Scott and I was just using him as an example. If Jones has suction cup for hands hopefully it can even out the Chase drops LOL

And boy does Zac value drop percentages as a stat. I’ve heard that numerous times.

You cannot try to win more than the Eagles are

Just traded for Swift.

I’m actually surprised by this. Their RB room did not seem like an issue for them
