It also further casts Biden's presidency as illegitimate for those inclined to believe this is the case, which I think is really the goal at this point. Absolutely that’s the goal. Obama was a Kenyan and Joe Biden cheated. Unfortunately too many people misrepresented what Russia did as cheating for Trump, which the GOP was happy to let them repeat that narrative because it allowed them to dismiss concerns over Russia’s interference campaign as a hoax. So we’re just going to have a never ending cycle RE: Election Challenges, Protests, Conspiracy Theories, and Moral Panics - BmorePat87 - 12-30-2020 (12-30-2020, 05:14 PM)GMDino Wrote: He cites Democrats objecting twice. I had read about the Gore one not the other. Without googling I’m going to assume he referenced 1960 and 2000. In 1960, Hawaii sent a new slate of electors (certified by the governor) after a recount overturned a 100 or so margin of win that the state didn’t wait on before sending electors for Nixon. Nixon, while declaring he wasn’t setting a precedent as president of the Senate just a suggestion, recommended that the new JFK electors be accepted without objections. In 2000 a Democrat from the House objected to Florida (for obvious reasons which were arguably legitimate reasons) but no one from the Senate joined them, so Gore dismissed the objection. In both cases the losing party was presiding officer (as the sitting VP) and encouraged the certified results be accepted by all. Both instances also involved a state where there was a difference of 100-500 votes. Obama was a Kenyan and Joe Biden cheated. Extra odd since Obama was apparently the world's foremost "self made man" by, by their assertions, going from being born in a mud hut in a shithole country to the most powerful man on earth and Biden managed to pull off the biggest scam in American history. Yet, the party of "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" and "win at any cost, don't let those wimpy ethics get in your way" haven't a shred of respect for either of them. Both guys won big at any cost...they should be heroes to the neo-cons, but they'd rather worship a spoiled rich kid who would rather cry "unfair" and stick his hand out and beg for donations to than dust himself off and finish the fight he started. Sad. Are there specifics to this "taking up arms" or is it a vague sort of threat/promise like a new year's resolution where people are totally going to get in shape or stop smoking in a few days for serious now? Are people just going to grab guns and march into the White House and start shooting people? What is the actual plan, here? I just feel like "We're gonna take up arms!" is the "I'm running away from home and you'll be sorry! I mean it!" for adults. That was a waste of time in both cases and any attempts to raise concerns about voting issues should be addressed in other ways. 2016's attempted objections were based nonsense, just like 2020's are, though 2020's objections will actually cause a waste of time vote like 2004's did. I've not seen anyone with any kind of real authority but rather the internet musings of "men" and some women who believe such a thing will happen. Some believe it will be a spontaneous uprising and others think their group of militia men will lead the charge. In most cases those they seem to have romanticized the Revolutionary War and combined that with their inability to tell fact from fiction about their own lives to create a fever dream where the daring group of rabble rousers defeat the giant government in the name of the lord and savior Donald John Trump. I assume they would attack Washington DC first since that is where the "traitors" are that won't change the election results to help DJT. I also assume that if any such action really did take place some, even here, would suggest they are just exercising their rights and praise them for taking over government buildings as long as they don't actually kill anyone...well as long as it can't be possibly described as "self-defense" anyway. And given how this country runs they would end up pardoned by the next Republican president no matter what they did. Perhaps I have underestimating the ability of my friends who can't stand at the cooker too long because of his "bad knee" but will "march on" the capitol someday? A little too long to copy and paste. Suffice to say it takes apart everything Trump said. https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/internet/trump-pushed-qanon-4chan-created-conspiracy-theories-georgia-call-n1252769 Such a sad time in American history. RE: Election Challenges, Protests, Conspiracy Theories, and Moral Panics - Au165 - 01-05-2021 The nut job Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia has said they need to decertify the Georgia elections... the one she won to get voted in. When asked if that applied to here she said "We are just talking about the Presidential election here". Of course it doesn't apply to here, she won! Every single Rep that won election/re-election and plans to object on Wednesday should have to explain this. It's pure Clown Shoes. RE: Election Challenges, Protests, Conspiracy Theories, and Moral Panics - Au165 - 01-05-2021 Also, maybe it's not relevant or is just a coincidence, but Trump is scheduled to fly to his golf course in Scotland the day before Biden's inauguration. Kind of weird that he could spend the inauguration at one of his properties in the U.S. holding a rally but is planning to leave the country the day before. What do people think "storming the capitol" does? Are they just going to open fire on government employees and politicians until the 2020 election is null and void? If enough people die then this country will be forced to make the man who inspired us to do this the president? RE: Election Challenges, Protests, Conspiracy Theories, and Moral Panics - Big Boss - 01-05-2021 Wow. "The new session of the Pennsylvania Senate got off to a chaotic start Tuesday, with Republicans taking the rare step of removing the Democratic lieutenant governor, John Fetterman, from running the session." Hopefully it gets them hanged with the lackeys in both houses of congress that are about to put on their lil show. But they're not even really the problem. It's their simpleton constituents that are eating up this nonsense. Hanged is a fun word to say. It feels like it should be hung. RE: Election Challenges, Protests, Conspiracy Theories, and Moral Panics - Au165 - 01-05-2021 To expand upon the PA thing, it occurred because the Republican majority refused to swear in one democratic state senator who won a close race claiming they won with illegal votes. It was the same dating technicality Trump tried but the PA Supreme Court threw out. Instead the Republicans are claiming they want to wait until the courts have had their say. This sound familiar? I don’t think we will ever see uncontested elections again after this year. As long as Republicans are willing to vote in elections they are told are rigged I suppose it will become standard. |
