I don't really care about democrats, republicans, or politicians in general. I think that if you'd pay attention to what I post on (not saying you or anyone should), that I form opinions on issues and discuss them either way. I rarely get into threads about some rich dudes who don't give a shit about you, me, or the country regardless of whether they're a donkey or an elephant. If you're running for elected office, there is a 99% chance that I despise you.

OK sorry I missed your post. I feel like I have been voting for the other side by supporting McCain and Romney. Both liberal progressives posing as Republicans. I was convinced as a Conservative to vote for the "lesser of two evils." Now I reaiize they are all the same. Ben Carson would be an exception. I may end up writing him in if he doesn't win the nomination.

No problem Bonnie. I am interested in your views. I am hear to learn and understand both sides. Sure, we all argue about these issues, but some of the best people I know disagree with everything I say, lol.

She is right but so are you and JC. Progressives have taken over both parties. Just look at neocons..... They are the same as a democrat progressive. They only spend on a couple different things... The war on this board is between the many here who think they are liberal but are almost socialist in their beliefs. And there are many here.... Some even think they are libertarians.
Fact is the classic liberal and Classic conservative have much more in common than they do with any other group. As far as religious conservatives ... It depends on the way they want to govern... Do they want to force people to live by their beliefs only? If so that's very Teddy Roosevelt progressive. Mike Huckabee is a perfect example of this .... But if they want everyone to respect each other's rights to worship freely then they are more of a classic conservative/classic liberal.

Liberals cry about veal but have abortion reduced to a mere "choice" and Conservatives have wet dreams about using guns to blow away people who intrude in their house/property but think it's evil and insane that people in the Middle East are shooting at our invading troops.

Meh, I'm sure most know that I'm pretty liberal, but I hate the AHCA. To me it was a half-assed solution to a real problem and just caused more problems. Would have liked to see a more liberal concept put into place.

The one thing I hate about all sides is the over exaggeration when making arguments.
"If we didn't have the Second Amendment, we would all die to criminals who have guns" says the Right.
"Oh, because of the Second Amendment, I have the right to keep a Cruise Missle in my back yard" says the left.
"Everyone is lazy, we don't need welfare just get off your ass and work" says the right.
"why do you want to murder the poor, sick, infirmed ect." says the left.
United we stand, Divided we are.
We can not continue for long if we stay divided like we are now and the carreer politicians are trying to divide us more and more. We need to wake up, but how do we change this course when it's the same politicians running for office?
We are screwed.

I don't really know what we need. I think Obamacare costs way too much. The things I like are being able to keep your kids on the insurance till 26 and having to cover people with pre-existing conditions. But I don't think we can afford Obamacare over the long term as a country.
On the other hand, I experienced the evil of insurance companies first hand when my son was hit by a drunk driver several years ago. They will lie to you in a minute to save a dime. I'm just not sure what the answer is.

It will also help to get out of war time budgeting as well. But that has really no affect on domestic budgeting.

In a rare instance of agreement the AHCA is costing me more money and just causes even more problems with insurance companies. I'm sorry that you had to deal with the evils of the insurance companies in such a tragic event with your son. Believe me I can empathize I've had to deal with the same after my son was diagnosed with diabetes at 4yo.
I would like to see a lot of the unnecessary spending on so much waste and military spending and focusing on our own here at home. I realize that is grossly oversimplified, but just trying to keep it brief. I see a lot of areas in which the govt should provide services and don't and then at the same time a lot of areas in which they do provide services that aren't necessary.

I have never minded which gov policies are chosen. I just want a small gov that respects the budget. I know exactly what happens in a single payer system. And if you are willing to cut other social programs to pay for it then I am all for that.
Just as I am all for defense spending if we can cit other military/defense programs to pay for it.
Just have to prioritize which social programs to get rid of to pay for single payer. Which would be quite a few given the cost.
