https://www.inforum.com/news/nation/1523347-Arrests-along-Mexico-border-surged-again-in-May-blowing-past-breaking-point

Quote:"We are in a full-blown emergency, and I cannot say this stronger: The system is broken," said acting CBP Commissioner John Sanders.

Sanders said his agency has detained more than 680,000 border crossers in the past eight months, noting that the total is "more than the population of Miami."

When does it become a crisis?

The Brown people are coming! The Brown people are coming!

I can't believe we are all still alive given the "National Emergency" we are under. Hopefully everyone's families are okay and they are safe. Please tell your story and help us understand why we should be scared for our lives?

How have you adapted to living in fear and under such horrific circumstances?

Do you think we'll ever be safe again?

Why do we still have to work given the dangers of Brown people coming?

What about the 99% of violent crimes committed by Americans?

Who knew the opioid crisis that has killed millions of Americans the last deccade came from tunnels under Mexico. Fake News claims it comes from pharmaceutical companies here in the U.S and subsidized by the government, approved by the FDA, and prescribed by Doctors. Fake News CNN. That's why we need to protest Apple.

So many questions. Be safe yall. Hopefully we live to see tomorrow.

I think it was pretty well established early on in this thread that most logical people understand there is an immigration issue afoot that needs a solution. There is just a disagreement over what needs to be done about it.

They just have to do a better job leaving kids in locked cars overnight. Sounds like the solution they are trying now.

Figured this could go here as well as anywhere; as it appears SCOTUS has made a wise choice to help alleviate the Border Crisis:

Quote:The Supreme Court is allowing nationwide enforcement of a new Trump administration rule that prevents most Central American migrants from seeking asylum in the United States.

The justices’ order late Wednesday temporarily undoes a lower court ruling that had blocked the new asylum policy in some states along the southern border. The policy is meant to deny asylum to anyone who passes through another country on the way to the U.S. without seeking protection there.

Most people crossing the southern border are Central Americans fleeing violence and poverty. They are largely ineligible under the new rule, as are asylum seekers from Africa, Asia and South America who arrive regularly at the southern border.

Definitely a common sense approach.  If those people are that desperate to get away from their homelands, they should be more than willing to seek and accept help from the 1st Country they flee to.

Yeah, it's not like we had any hand in creating the mess they are fleeing from and have some sort of responsibility for their suffering that would burden us with a duty to assist them.

If you're from Columbia is seeking asylum in Panama that much better?

In the spirit of this decision, I suggest men should marry their first girlfriend. No divorces. Just be happy with what you got.

Obviously I and 7 Justices agree. Go to the nearest country, seek asylum, and get you and your family out of harm's way. Once you are safe then work toward a legal migration to a country of your choosing. Financial benefit is not a reason for asylum; although, sometimes folks feel it is.

Have we done a cost analysis of introducing sharks with laser beams on their freaking heads into the Rio Grande? Or at least ill tempered sea bass?

That's a start.

Not everyone will catch the irony.
