Evans has been a WR1 his whole career. Tee hasn't had the consistant opportunity to show what he can do as WR1 getting a bulk of the targets.

I believe Tee is similar in talent level, and the real difference between Tee and Evans is in health. Evans has only missed 9 games in his 10 year career. Tee has missed that many or more in his 4 years.

I don't think you're aware of how contracts work or are structured. It's not necessarily because he is better than Evans. It's because his contract will be longer. When you sign 4-year deals, the last two years of those contracts are often bloated (non-guaranteed money) and reflect the increases in the salary cap. So when you look at AAV, those last couple years will make the contract look larger, or as large as Evans.

As long as Chase is here, Tee will always be considered Wr2. So are the Bengals holding him back from proving he can be a team's #1?

That's nonsense.  You can front load contracts, you can back load them.  Anyway you look at it, Tee Higgins isnt as good as Mike Evans and shouldnt be signed at 26 million per year no matter if they front load it, back load it or give it voidable years.

Whether it's backloaded or front-loaded it doesn't matter when he gets the money, they will take the increased cap # of future years into account. He will get at least 26M AAV. Is Jalen hurts and Kyler Murray better than Mahomes and Allen? No, but they signed a contract after Mahomes & Allen and it was 4-5 years. It's just how it works.

It's not comparable. Mahomes signed his contract in 2020, Hurts signed his in 2023 so of course his contract would be different.  Mike Evans just signed his contract 2 days ago.  Tee Higgins would be signing in the same year as Evans.  You cant say someone else is going to get paid more 4 years from now so Higgins needs to have his contract based on what the salary cap might be in 4 years.  You have to deal with the current salary cap and where everyone fits right now.  As of right now Higgins isnt as good as Evans and shouldnt be paid like Evans.

Truth. Evans was a top 10 WR last year easily and some could put him in the top 5 and some wouldn't argue with it.

Tee at best is a top 20 WR and is banged up a lot. Is he a top #2 WR? Yes, but he is asking for #1 money and that isn't happening here.

We have our #1 to pay in Ja'Marr Chase who is a top 5 WR.
