I'm reading that he's very a very aggressive blocker but lacks strength.  LOL.

"Sample is a reliable receiver with outstanding ball skills. He didn't drop a pass in the eight games I studied from the past two seasons. He is one of the best blocking tight ends in this class, both in the run game and in pass protection. Sample is a deliberate route-runner, but he struggles to separate and is not much of a big-play threat."

Sounds like a hell of a blocker and potential red zone threat. I'll give him a chance, even if they probably did pick him too early.

I also like Sharping, but didn’t think he’d last until the 3rd. On further review, Sample looks okay, but it also seems very likely he could have been netted with a third while adding a difference maker in the 2nd.

It is a big reach

Just dumb....you trade down when a top TE was there yet you take one a few picks later that was a huge reach. typical cincy.

You want guys who can move the needle in the 2nd Round. Not guys who are role players.

Inexperience staff whiffs.

I watched him play. He is probably the greatest blocking TE in the Draft besides Hochenson, he has great hands and runs great routes. The Offense he was in he was not used as a pass catching TE. You aren't on board with the new Offense that Taylor is bringing to the table evidently where you need blocking...

What have you?

Where is your commentary based on? Go and reach on whatever you want. Priorities are being addressed. O-line and TE needed to be addressed and there was only a couple Linebackers i would of taken at 52 and they still are available.

Quit crying, damn.

So whose to blame so far? Taylor or Tobin?

RE: ***Official 2019 NFL Draft Discussion Thread*** - BonnieBengal - 04-26-2019

Maybe they expect Eifert to be injured in 5 minutes as usual

25 catches 252 yds and 3 TD last year......blocking TE still needs to produce more than that in the NFL.

Bengals hit more than they miss in the 2nd round, too.

He didn’t drop anything because they didn’t throw him anything

TE coach says he’s “adequate” in the passing game. Yay.

I'll believe they go 2 TE sets when I see it.

This guy could just be a Dennis Roland TE version.

Help the RTs who suck until we can get our 1st rounder ready to play the position by himself.

Sample was under utilized in college, is the best blocking TE in this class. Not quite Hochenson level in terms of skill set.  The reason he is rated so low is because there is not much film on the guy.

There is even less film on me...well, except for that film I made when I was in college and desperate for money.

RE: ***Official 2019 NFL Draft Discussion Thread*** - THE PISTONS - 04-26-2019

Bengals selected Washington TE Drew Sample with the No. 52 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

This is a reach for a tight end who caught 46 passes TOTAL in his college career, but it is possible there is some untapped upside. Sample (6’5/255) started all four years for the Huskies, never earning higher than honorable mention All-Pac 12. He mainly generated scout plaudits for his blocking; an old-school, in-line "Y" tight end, PFF College graded Sample as one of the nation’s best run blockers in 2018, and he dropped 0-of-25 catchable targets. Sample tested better than expected in the forty (4.71) and three-cone (7.15) at the Combine, suggesting he may have untapped potential as a receiver. His ceiling is probably in the Jack Doyle range.

Worst pick of the draft by far.

If they take another TE I hope it's Parham

Could have paid Tyler Kroft and avoided this

25 passes was the 'Sample' size.
