A holy crap moment! - grampahol - 09-06-2017

So I bought a cheap, $4 universal remote at Wallyfartworld and looked up my tv and of the 40 some odd code numbers listed on the extremely handy tiny small print instructions the very first number worked! Holy Crap!
I suspect they're in cahoots with the lottery commission so I'll run right out and buy lottery tickets..  I'm not biting..

Didn't know remotes worked on B&W 6" tube tv's?

Ya when did you upgrade to a color tv.....with a remote?

It's not really a TV. The rest of the world will call it a fish finder. And you don't need a remote, as the only way to change what's on the screen is to move the boat!

I was the family's remote back in the 70's and early 80's.  Pops would tell me to get up there and change the channel or shut the tv off or turn it on or turn up the volume, etc.  we had one of those old console tv that turned. 28 inches baby!  crystal clear.....kinda.

Ah, the good ole days of being the TV biitch. I was the youngest and that was my job. That's why people had children, for the sole purpose to change that friggin station. Then when the remote was invented, couples realized they couldn't throw the old one away and had to raise them and shit!

Yup..I can remember when people would look at my son, then about 2 years old and say, "That kid's gonna go places and grow up to be a great remote control someday!"
Actually he went on to become a VCR thief so he could swipe my porn tapes in the middle of the night at 10 years old and pretend he was watching cartoons at 3am ..and mom always wondered why he didn't want to wake up on time for school in the morning..

We had one of the soft fake bricks for throwing at the TV when the the game is not going your way. It was often utilized to bean someone in the head while the words "turn the damn channel" echoed throughout the room...
