Cant Stop the Run, No Pressure on Ben R... - corpjet - 10-22-2017

what happened to our top 5 defense today?

Blame it on Marvin?

Pauly G's Fault?

Not having PacMan hurt us?

We looked like a shell of ourselves the first 5 games...

RE: Cant Stop the Run, No Pressure on Ben R... - THE PISTONS - 10-22-2017

We actually played good competition today. That's what happened.

It's time to end the talk about the defense carrying us to the Super Bowl.

This is very true.
I think the defense is better than in years past, but not by a whole bunch.
They've played baltimore (historically bad offense), Houston (QB making first start), Green Bay (folded with the game on the line), Cleveland (not a real team), Buffalo (bad offense, below average QB).
They played NO ONE.
It's now 17 games without the defense recovering a fumble.
This stat does not get talked about enough.
People chalk it up to luck.
Its not luck.
Forcing fumbles is coaching.
You gotta make your own breaks and this team;s inability to force turnovers makes their room for error microscopic.

Didn't realize the fumble recovery stat, wow

Sadly today should put SB talk behind us.

RE: Cant Stop the Run, No Pressure on Ben R... - THE PISTONS - 10-22-2017

We were outgained 420-179.

RE: Cant Stop the Run, No Pressure on Ben R... - J24 - 10-22-2017

They didn't have there A game today it happens frustrating but it happens. The missed tackles we're frustrating which is not like them and they had uncharacteristic coverage breakdowns which is also not like them.

They've played mainly bad offenses this year. The Steelers have a good offense. The Steelers have a good offensive line. The Steelers have 2 elite skill players and a good QB.

This wasn't about having a bad day. The Steelers offense is better than our defense.

Got manhalned in the running game , we were in are base D a lot of the game. Need better NT play Sims is a backup, and Billings isn’t the stud he was hyped up to be don’t think he even played today. Way too many missed tackles. Linebackers awful in coverage. Big players disappearing in big games per usual , forgot Atkins even played today , Dunlap should have domanited a backup RT, Burfict didn’t seem like himself. George Ioka is way overated at safety , think Nelson made him look better then he was. Kirkpatrick has never really impressed me. On a positive note William Jackson III made a few nice pass break ups think he has a bright future.

They need to get some pee wee football guys in there to show them how to actually tackle... It boggles my mind how Somone could make it to the pro's and do nothi g but arm tackle... I honestly just don't get it.. are they afraid??? I mean seriously, wtf

What are you talking about? The Texans and Packers are both good offenses and the Bengals played them pretty well.  Also are you saying the Bengals miss tackles and blow coverages on a regular basis because recent history suggests they don't and it is very uncommon by them.

The Bengals defense melted down against the Texans and Packers. The Texans had a rookie QB in his 1st game run for a 49 yard TD. Against the Packers, they destroyed us in the 2nd half and in OT.

We got outgained 420-179 against the Steelers today. 0 sacks.

The Browns, Ravens (historically bad offense), and Bills are all bad offenses. At the time we played the Texans, they were a bad offense too.

Big time players play big in big games
The Bengals got zero.from Dunlap Atkins Kirkpatrick
Burfict didnt exactly create any splash plays either
I watched 2 guys under 22 yrs of age make big plays for the Steelers
Mike Hilton and Juju Smith Schuster.
Vigil made none tonight
Iloka and Williams no shows
The Bengals play calling was garbage tonight
Once the Steelers adjusted Lazor failed to counter

Glasgow seemed to play good in the second half... didn't notice if he played much in the first half

Yeah the rookie QB who is having a great year made one play on us wow what a terrible Defense we have. Secondly our pass rush was Tired in the second half of the packer game because of our offense kept having 3 and outs.
You want to talk about today how about mentioning we held an offense to one touchdown out of 6 tries in the redzone or how we held the best RB in the game to under four yards per a carry. Or how we held them to 2-11 on third downs.

It doesn't matter. Great defenses don't let rookie QB's run for 49 yard TD's.

Oh they were tired in the 2nd half against the Packers? Kirkpatrick has been bad all year.

420 yards today against the Steelers. 420 yards. The defense was bad. They let the Steelers drive at will and score 29 points.

Missed tackles. Blown coverages. 0 pass rush. No sacks.

Then at the end of the game, when we knew the run was coming...the Steelers got yards running.

RE: Cant Stop the Run, No Pressure on Ben R... - JSR18 - 10-23-2017

Tiger I think ML harped and whined all week about penalties (especially PF's) to the point the defense was afraid to put on their big boy pants and play. The easiest way to beat a superior team is to punch them in the mouth, put your foot on their necks and don't let them up. They'll quickly decide they're done for the day...

RE: Cant Stop the Run, No Pressure on Ben R... - Shake n Blake - 10-23-2017

The Steelers value interior linemen. We do not.

1.) Bullshit Deshawn made a great play that happens especially in today's game. One play doesn't make them bad or means they had one play.
2.) Yeah they were tired the offense could not get off the field in the second half.
3.) They held the Steelers to two touchdowns, they played good redzone Defense, held Bell to under 4 yards a carry,  and 2-11 on 3rd downs. Was it a good game by them no and no they did not look like a top 5 defense either but that shouldn't discount what they have done all year.

RE: Cant Stop the Run, No Pressure on Ben R... - Fan_in_Kettering - 10-23-2017

Paul Guenther must have dialed up his game plan against the Cleveland Browns because no way do you give up that much space over the top to the Steelers.
