Tennessee House votes to create 'monument to unborn children' at State Capitol - GMDino - 04-23-2018 I don't have a problem at its most basic point. I also do not see it as "shaming" anyone who had an abortion. I realize it was more than likely an awful decision that the woman has to live with her entire life and may not want reminded also. But in principle a monument to the unborn does not bother me personally. I do not know the legality of it being on public ground, private funds paying for it, etc. http://www.charlotteobserver.com/latest-news/article209437324.html Quote:The nation's ongoing turmoil over controversial monuments took a new turn this week, when the Tennessee House passed a bill calling for an official state monument to unborn children at the state capitol. RE: Tennessee House votes to create 'monument to unborn children' at State Capitol - Nately120 - 04-23-2018 According to my record collection Seals & Crofts (Dash Crofts, not that TE the Bengals have) did this 44 years ago. RE: Tennessee House votes to create 'monument to unborn children' at State Capitol - BmorePat87 - 04-23-2018 Privately funded, right? I don't care what they put on the public property, as long as it's not religious. Probably the cost of a press release unless they want to push something to court. That's why I'm curious. The article says they're "fighting" it, but how? In ways that don't really cost money lik just calling their representatives? Or what? RE: Tennessee House votes to create 'monument to unborn children' at State Capitol - fredtoast - 04-23-2018 "Democrats from Nashville demanded to know why there was a need for such a monument because there is a memorial for children who have died at Nashville's Centennial Park, reported CBS." That's interesting. I wonder how many children have died at Centennial Park? Planned Parenthood has to maintain lobbyist just to ensure their continued existence. I am sure they view this as another PR attack against them so they have to fight back. The legislature here in Tennessee has attempted to regulate abortion out of existence because they do not believe in following the law that makes abortion legal. This is just another step in that Direction. Sexton is one of the worst. He wants a government 100% controlled by Christian dogma. Using Fred's idea of lobbyists on staff it isn't costing them anything because they probably pay them no matter what they are being used for. Well, I find it interesting and funny if they're getting governmental subsidies and they spend money fighting the government. They get government subsidies for services provided. They do not get money from the government to fight the government. Every form of business that gets subsidies from the government (and there are tons of them) also fights against government regulations that have a negative effect on them. Planned Parenthood is no different. RE: Tennessee House votes to create 'monument to unborn children' at State Capitol - 6andcounting - 04-23-2018 If they are unironically serious, then I don't like it. If it's a troll job, then it's brilliant. And I'm sure they are serious about being pro-life and justify it with religion, but it's the idea of making a dead baby monument that I'm talking about here. RE: Tennessee House votes to create 'monument to unborn children' at State Capitol - ballsofsteel - 04-23-2018 Is this memorial for dead fetuses never born or for all the babies that are born out of wedlock that get beat to death by boyfriends baby sitting while the baby mama is working? Drumph is stinking about pardoning Jack Johnson. Who is next Charles Manson? You stink Cohen got the message? Planned Parenthood, a non profit, itself doesn't lobby. They provide health services. Their PAC, which raises outside money, lobbies. Well being as it is for unborn children most can answer that question with very little mental taxation. |
