Has The TCJA Supercharged The Economy? The Data Don’t Show It - GMDino - 05-03-2018 ![]() http://www.taxpolicycenter.org/taxvox/has-tcja-supercharged-economy-data-dont-show-it Quote:President Trump often says the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act has provided “rocket fuel” that will supercharge the US economy. He may, eventually, be right. But economic data for the first months after Congress passed the law shows no evidence of a growth surge. RE: Has The TCJA Supercharged The Economy? The Data Don’t Show It - PhilHos - 05-03-2018 I admit, I'm no economist, but don't the effects of any economic bill take a while (like years) to truly be seen? Indeed. Which is why man people said Trump taking credit for last year was wrong. Also why many people say his projections for the coming years are wrong. RE: Has The TCJA Supercharged The Economy? All well and good, but why come out with an article that says after 1 month of being passed into law Trump's tax cuts have not had a positive effect yet? Did Trump say the effects of the tax cuts would be felt immediately? If so - and honestly, I don't know but it wouldn't surprise me if he did - quote him and then use the data this article provides to show he was wrong. Otherwise what's the point other than to try to make a Trump bill seem ineffectual when it has barely even taken affect? RE: Has The TCJA Supercharged The Economy? There was much celebration about the stock market, one time bonuses, etc right after the passage. Time passes and we begin to follow along. RE: Has The TCJA Supercharged The Economy? The Data Don’t Show It - ballsofsteel - 05-03-2018 There must be a lot of 1%'er on this board. That would explain why they are so excited about this tax cut. The one that has an expiration date. That $5 a week extra in my paycheck doesn't give me goosebumps. RE: Has The TCJA Supercharged The Economy? The Data Don’t Show It - NATI BENGALS - 05-03-2018 Pumped about it. My tax savings are almost covering the higher costs of gas. Lets be honest here. The rich people needed a break. They may not feel the effects of higher gas prices or the cost that will soon be passed on to many goods with these tariffs. But god dang somebody has to look out for the 1%. So as a little old joe schmo i for one am happy that if i have to borrow money the interest rates will be higher and my cost of living is on the upswing. I can feel it trickling down already like im in a russian hotel room or something. RE: Has The TCJA Supercharged The Economy? The Data Don’t Show It - fredtoast - 05-04-2018 The stock market was booming and corporations were recording record profits. Why did we need to borrow a few trillion more dollars for "rocket fuel" when things were going so well? All the tax bill did was shift an even higher percentage of the growth to the top end of the economic scale. |
