Hubbard "way ahead of the curve" - bengalfan74 - 06-20-2018

“He has been way ahead of the curve. We’re just excited about that. He’s going to really complement and add to our football team right away. I’m just excited because he’s probably out here a little mature beyond his years right now.”

I don't buy to heavily into these preseason articles but I find it interesting that Marvin says he'll add to the football team right away !

Perhaps we've found a real gem in Hubbard ?

it makes sense with how well early round buckeyes have been doing early on in the league as of late, maybe Urban is just doing a good job getting his guys ready for the nfl.

Sounds good, will this mean goodbye to MJ?

Very well could be. MJ hasn't been effective at DE for the last two seasons by and large. Will they really pay an interior, sparingly used rotation guy his salary ?

Music to my ears !

Still can't believe we were able to land Sam in the draft! Maybe I missed it, but has he signed yet?

If it all works out well, they shouldn’t. This is Mike Brown that we’re talking about though. They have seemingly been making better decisions lately, let’s hope that weird loyalty thing doesn’t keep MJ around.

I’m excited about the Defensive line. We were at are best when we had a solid rotation. Getting nothing from guys like Hunt and Clark and Johnson’s declining play hurt us the past few years. Getting production for young guys like Lawson, Wills and Hubbard to complement Geno and Dunlap will be big for us. Hubbard dosent have to be a stud but if he plays 10-15 productive snaps per game it will help the rotation. Hopefully Wills can take over for Johnson. I like Lawson as a pass rush specialist no need to wear him down as a 3 down DE. DT next to Geno is still a concern hopefully Billings or Baker step up.

lol@ good decisions lately..the ineptitude of this offensive line and the damage this caused to the team .....the decisions made the last three years regardiing such..lol@ making better decisions..and rather than drafting to repair the line last year they take an injury prone WR in the first round

I meant this offseason compared to the previous offseason. They added a couple of good players to that line vs. letting 2 walk. They signed a new OLine coach, Pac-Man is gone. I think those were better decisions than the previous year. They still make some bad decisions such as Marvin and Eifert being back.

Agree, and to me this is kinda the final piece to the puzzle. I mean the making better decisions thing. They let pac man go finally, so perhaps somethings changed ?

I'm no ML fan by any stretch ! But maybe, just maybe, team M&M are finally going to step up into the modern NFL ?

Me to ! I'm with you on Billings, hope he can bring the thunder this year.

No maybe about it -- he's doing it.

Historically, we've done alright too :-)

Sounds awesome! Boy would it be great having him in the rotation as a solid producer. I think MJ's days could be numbered.

Even if so, do you really have faith that Marv will deliver?

Oh if you mean post season wins ? No I don't !
I'm just hoping the light has finally come on and this team is finally moving into the modern NFL. But that's a different thread

RE: Hubbard "way ahead of the curve" - Nate (formerly eliminate08) - 06-20-2018

Great to hear, been hearing a lot of great stuff about Hubbard already.

With Lawson, Willis and Hubbard we could have a very nice future with our Ends.

I love how versatile Hubbard is, i think this is his most formidable trait. He can cover, being a Safety before and all.

My guess is not yet.  He'll get another year, moving inside on passing downs.
