In Japan they have floors in an airport that generates power just from people walking on them. They can do all kinds of things beside generate electricity. They have leds in them and do all the traffic lines and signs, they have heating elements in them that would melt ice and snow. And the tides can be used to produce hydroelectric power. Fill pools at high tide and don't release the water until low tide. Falling water runs turbine.
