Remember when our ex-coaches stole.. - bfine32 - 11-23-2018

our WRs:

2016 draft and Bengals needed someone opposite of AJ after MLJ and Sanu walked. Folks were looking to go WR early. We were scheduled to pick 24th. Going into the 15th pick nor WR had been taken and the Bengals were in perfect position to have their pick of WR. Then our ex-coaches stepped in:

15th Cleveland and Hue take Corey Coleman

22 Washington and Jay take Josh Doctson

23 Minnesota and Zims take Laquon Treadwell

No other value left at WR so Cincy settles on CB WJIII in the 1st and WR Tyler Boyd in the 2nd.

Stats to date:

Corey Coleman: 58 catches 738 yards 5 TDs
LaQuon Treadwell: 40 catches 395 yards 1TD
Josh Doctson 63 catches 836 yards 8 TDs

Tyler Boyd: 132 catches 1584 yards 8 TDs

That's the feel good side of the story. The "well hell" side of the story is the WR taken just before Boyd in the 2nd.

Michael Thomas: 278 catches 3424 yards 22 TDs

Its a shame that Hue didn't gift us a few draft picks like he did when he was the Raiders coach lol. Should have been a condition of his rehire.

Interesting stats but I have a feeling Boyd would put bigger numbers with Brees. Maybe not what Thomas is doing right now, but, Boyd is a bonafide #2 while Thomas is a #1.

Drew Brees is puting up video game numbers this year.  Check this out from earlier in the season

One key to Brees' success this season has been No. 1 target Michael Thomas, who is somehow still not discussed among top receivers in the NFL. Brees has connected with Thomas on 38 of 40 passes, a mind-exploding 95 percent rate.

That is just ridiculous.

Wasn't Will Fuller in that draft somewhere too?

In couple of years Thomas will get 16+million a year and Boyd 8 to 9 million

Kind of OT, but worth mentioning.

Jerome Simpson had more career receptions than 2 of the 5 WRs drafted in front of him and 5 of the other 9 WRs taken in the second round with him.

The Saints also run undrafted WR's out there and throw TD's to them. That offense is insane. Plus, Brees rarely gets sacked. You could probably put our 3-7 WR's out there and they'd score 35 points.

good one..

But isn't Michael Thomas a #1 receiver? Boyd is finally our #2 I'm finally happy with Boyd.
