Trump dismisses findings of U.S. government report on climate change - GMDino - 11-27-2018

Because why would the POTUS trust the government?

Quote:U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday he had read parts of a U.S. government report projecting that climate change will cost the country's economy billions of dollars by the end of the century, but he does not believe the economic impacts will be devastating.

"I've seen it, I've read some of it, and it's fine," he told reporters at the White House. Asked about severe economic impacts, he said, "I don't believe it."

Last year, Trump announced he would withdraw the United States from the 2015 Paris Deal to combat climate change. He has also rolled back Obama-era environmental and climate protections to boost production of domestic fossil fuels.

The congressionally mandated report, written with the help of more than a dozen U.S. government agencies and departments, said the effects of climate change would undermine human health, damage infrastructure, limit water availability, alter coastlines and increase costs in various industries.

The report also said projections of damage could change if greenhouse gas emissions were curbed, although many of the impacts of climate change, like powerful storms, droughts and flooding, have already begun.

(Emphasis mine.)

He's such a dolt.

Remember, these scientists are probably the same guys who claim Putin interfered with the elections, when for all we really know it was China or that 400-pound guy.

Same with climate change. Could be that guy or the Chinese.

Don't trust the fake news.

What you're seeing and reading is not what's happening.

Reports of melting ice caps are just placed to promote a leftist Soros agenda. Which mainly consists of hate and wishing to hit the USA in the kneecap.

We had a state senator come speak to our class yesterday and her response to a question on climate change was basically: Why should our state try to change something when we need the whole world on board?

Kind of sums up the attitude: well if I don't think China is going to do anything, why would I even try to do something?

LOL nevermind that China was on board for emissions reduction--and the US jumped ship.

Comes down to Trump hate and liberals who don't want the U.S. to succeed.

Climate change is just a money grab hoax perpetrated by research scientists.

The only people we can really trust are the non-profit fossil fuel industry.

China is investing ten times as much money in solar power research and development as the United States.  While we suck on the drying teat of fossil feuls they are preparing for the future.  and when it gets here they will own our asses.

Yup, they're just America-hating globalists, and dumb people who believe in climate change even though it snows and everyone knows the planet is just moving closer to the sun. Also Al Gore said something wrong once.
And we all know scientists worldwide are just into that science thing to get bought off for producing fraudulent results to promote the Soros agenda.

I believe she said something along the lines of "China is using tons of coal but we can't?"

We (collective "we as humans) will only take climate change and our role in it seriously when we realize that we are not killing the planet, we are killing ourselves.

One would think recent events would help demonstrate that...but oh well.

Scientists know they get more money if they say outrageous stuff.  And publishers who are liberal and mostly New Yorkers, won't publish their work if they tell the truth.  Until we start defunding universities and other knowledge institutions, nothing will change.

The extractive industries must finally band together to influence the press, politicians and public opinion to combat the special interests defending the environment.

Thankful that our politicians can think through all the nuances of these trade/environment issues to come up creative solutions to resource depletion and global warming.  Those days of politicians spouting uniformed, simplistic, black and white policy alternatives were left back in the 20th century.

Yes. These knowledge places are liberal breeding stations and publicly funding those is clearly a hyperpartisan measure initiated from the Kenyan at heart. Doesn't mean these places necessarily need to be shut down (although Trump totally and rightfully could do that), they still can present their agenda-driven facts and truths. But we also need alternative truths from the other side. America needs a bunch of Trump universities all over the country to finally get both sides equally represented on such and similar matters. Because the truth isn't always the truth. And these places need funding to draw level with all the Soros money these mainstream research facilities recieve to produce the desired results.

At this point, whoever hysterically shouts climate change without even considering the oil companies' points shows his bias and clearly is severely opposed to Trump on a personal basis. Doesn't like his hair or how he gets two scoops of ice cream or whatever triggers a deranged liberal snowflake in his safe space. This environment first carnage needs to stop.

Quote:In a wide-ranging interview, President Donald Trump confronted why he's voiced skepticism on a climate change report issued over the Thanksgiving Day weekend, telling the Washington Post "I don’t see" the devastating climate change effects warned about in the report.

"One of the problems that a lot of people like myself, we have very high levels of intelligence, but we're not necessarily such believers," the president said of climate change. "You look at our air and our water and it's right now at a record clean."

The 1,600-page National Climate Assessment, issued by the Trump administration, details the climate and economic impacts U.S. residents will see if drastic action is not taken to address climate change.

The report notes in a worst-case scenario, top scientists from 13 federal agencies say climate change – primarily caused by human activity – could deliver a 10 percent hit to the nation's GDP by the end of the century.

"As to whether or not it’s man-made and whether or not the effects that you’re talking about are there, I don’t see it — not nearly like it is," Trump said. "Do we want clean water? Absolutely. Do we want clean air to breathe? Absolutely."

The president talked about how other nations have "incredibly dirty" air and water, which in turn would eventually affect the U.S. He also used the discussion to segue into the California wildfires and forest maintenance.
Hilarious

It gets better.

The administration of "alternate facts".

Quote:White House press secretary Sarah Sanders denounced a new climate-change report as "not data driven" and "not based on facts," sharpening the Trump administration's repudiation of the document crafted by 13 federal agencies.

Sanders denounced the National Climate Assessment during a Tuesday press briefing, defending President Trump's publicly expressed doubt about its warning of potentially severe ocean-level rises and associated economic costs.

"You have to look at the fact that this report is based on the most extreme modeled scenario, which contradicts long-established trends," Sanders said. "Modeling the climate is an extremely complicated science that is never exact."

Sanders added: "We think this is the most extreme version, and it's not based on facts. It's not data driven. We'd like to see something that is more data driven. It's based on modeling."

However, Sanders said Trump is committed to ensuring the country has "the safest, cleanest air and water."
The climate assessment, released Friday, was spearheaded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, with assistance from other agencies, including NASA.

The report found that wildfires have worsened in severity due to climate change and that more than 13 million U.S. residents may need to evacuate due to rising ocean levels in 80 years.

Trump told reporters on the South Lawn of the White House Monday that, "I've read some of it, and it's fine," but said he did not accept forecasts of a devastating economic impact.

"I don't believe it," Trump said.

Not data driven?! Does she not know how extrapolation works? Does she actually know and think the rest of the country is stupid? This is the most ridiculous attempt at denouncing a study as I have ever seen. "I want to see the prediction based on data that can't be collected yet, because it's in the future, instead of extrapolations based on data from the past that is the foundation of any statistical modeling!"

Probably, yes. In her defense, on this particular matter pats of the country indeed behave particularly ignorant and stupid. In no other western country is climate change seriously debated or discredited the way it is in the US.
