Might be old news by now, sorry if it is.

I think this is the first actual confirmation. I don't know enough about the son to say if this will be a good choice or not.

Gruden said he is coming to the Bengals at the senior bowl

Yep, it's confirmed.  Welcome aboard Coach Callahan.

I don't know much about Brian. I think he is Taylor's second choice as Kubiak may have been his first choice. One never knows.

But I will say that Bill will likely be Bengals new OL coach and it would not surprise me one bit if Sherman is somehow involved with the team. I know some hated to see Pollack go, but Sherman and Bill C. are better. And I did not see a lot of improvement in the OL Pollack's first and only year here. Hard to measure, however, given the dearth of talent along the OL for the Bengals.

Maybe we should have waited till after the senior bowl to hire him he could have scouted it first hand.

He might already be there and just had to change team gear.

He was on the Denver staff that ran the West from 2011-2015 and won the sb. Worked with Peyton. Worked under Kubiak. He's also coached Stafford and Carr to career years.

Not sure how he'll do, but when he missed out on OC jobs last offseason, they said it was just a matter of time as he's viewed as a coach on the rise.

Ok now let’s get the Del Rio as DC news to leak.

I wonder if he can get Mike Brown a discount on brake pads for the Lumina?

Yeah I just meant that if we waited till after the game he would have had the chance to work with the players as part of grudens staff. I'm fine with it though and glad we have some news. I'm curious if he will call plays or if Taylor will, either way I'm getting excited about the season.

That's a master class of football right there.  I like his background.  Peyton Manning knows as much about football as anyone walking the earth.

Considering I believe Zac still calls the plays he will mostly be helping to design plays and install them I'm guessing.

Also might be one step closer to landing his father as OL Coach....

I'm also very curious if Taylor calls the plays......I hope he does, it helps when coordinators leave for better opportunities

I'm cool with this. He was bound to get an OC job soon. He's done well and worked with numerous quarterbacks.

His only year with Carr was his best when it comes to yardage and 2nd best when it comes to QB rating.
Matthew Stafford was with Callahan for two years. In on of those years, Stafford posted his best QB rating. In the other year? His 4th best.
Sure, 2015 was a rough year for Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler was the backup. But; Osweiler had his best QB rating and most YPG under Callahan

RE: B Callahan to be Bengals OC? - Shake n Blake - 01-22-2019

This whole time I thought we were hiring Bill Callahan. Probably because I read this:

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/01/19/next-bengals-coach-reportedly-wants-bill-callahan/?shared=email&msg=fail

I don't think I'm the only one that's been confused about this, as I've seen some saying Bill and some saying Brian.

I guess this is still a solid hire. He's been a hot name in the coaching ranks and was interviewed for the Titans OC position last year.

Pro Football Rumors and various sites are already reporting that Taylor is expected to call plays.

I wonder if they'll have a passing game coordinator and a run game coordinator like the Rams do.

Good question, but if Taylor is calling plays, it looks like he's going for the trendy structure lately. Which is the HC calling plays, with passing game coordinators...ala the Rams, Chiefs, etc.

RE: B Callahan to be Bengals OC? - Nebuchadnezzar - 01-22-2019

So, is Brian the O Line Coach or the QB Coach?

It's the "B" that has me confused, lol.

EDIT: Also, I thought OC and DC would be announced after the HC.
