Trump's 2020 budget an unlikely wish list in divided Congress - GMDino - 03-11-2019 Reading his requests makes me think of Frank Drebin calling balls and strikes. When he realizes he gets cheers for certain things he goes completely over the top with no sense of what a fool he looks like. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/elections/2019/03/11/donald-trumps-budget-calls-billions-more-border-wall/3072621002/ Quote:President Donald Trump called for deep cuts in environmental and safety net programs, billions more for his border wall and a huge boost for the military in a $4.75 trillion proposed 2020 budget that is unlikely to gain any traction in Congress. RE: Trump's 2020 budget an unlikely wish list in divided Congress - Yojimbo - 03-11-2019 Cuts to Medicaid, Medicare and SS, but increase in military offense spending. They just don’t get it and apparently won’t until the torches and pitchforks come out. The biggest problem I’ve read with legal immigration is lack of judges, yet the budget hires more officers and prosecutors, but not more judges? To cut the benefits of your voter-base but have them thanking you for protecting you from the danger you had to tell them existed? He does it all the time on a multitude of stances. Tells them he'll give them better, cheaper healthcare, and then simply takes away what they had and gives them nothing. And the love him. ![]() RE: Trump's 2020 budget an unlikely wish list in divided Congress - michaelsean - 03-12-2019 (03-11-2019, 04:42 PM)GMDino Wrote: He'll just tell his base he didn't do it. Every year we throw up the president's budget as if it means something. I get that. I also get he said he wouldn't touch it...yet here is what he WANTS. He may not get it (probably not) but he lied. Not that that is new either or that his supporters care. Which is kind of what my point was. He'll just tell them what they want to hear and they'll believe it. He didn't even get THAT right. His budget would result in the deficit continuing to rise for the next several years with a proposal to have it balanced in 15 years. https://www.fox23.com/news/politics/trump-plan-envisions-balanced-budget-in-15-years/929146151 Quote:With over $2 trillion added to the federal debt since he took office just over two years ago, President Donald Trump will deliver a spending plan to the Congress on Monday which is certain to spur a sharp debate with Democrats over proposed cuts in domestic spending programs, but won't come close to producing a balanced budget for more than a decade. The link has some of the breakdowns in cuts and spending also. Heh, I deleted that comment because I mistakenly called it a record deficit and implied budget deficit, when the actual record deficit was the trade deficit, which isn't really affected by this proposal. That said, the concept remains the same. Let's balloon the (budget) deficit with an unpopular tax cut that disproportionately favors the rich and then, to make up for it, cut the social programs that help the poor. Our president is like the opposite Robin Hood. He's the Sherriff of Nottingham XD RE: Trump's 2020 budget an unlikely wish list in divided Congress - GMDino - 03-12-2019 (03-12-2019, 09:21 AM)Crazyjdawg Wrote: Heh, I deleted that comment because I mistakenly called it a record deficit and implied budget deficit, when the actual record deficit was the trade deficit, which isn't really affected by this proposal. Without the warmth and charm. ![]() RE: Trump's 2020 budget an unlikely wish list in divided Congress - BmorePat87 - 03-12-2019 (03-12-2019, 08:44 AM)michaelsean Wrote: He won't have to tell his base he didn't do it because it will never happen. Rigged system with the budget. Democrats won't pay for the wall and want to kill babies. |
