What are your Top 3?

RE: Top 3 Bengals Drafts of All-Time - THE PISTONS - 05-29-2019

How about our 2001 draft? Justin Smith, Chad Johnson, Rudi Johnson, TJ Houshmandzadeh?

That was a great draft!

RE: Top 3 Bengals Drafts of All-Time - Tiger Teeth - 05-29-2019

1977 was a good one. Eddie Edwards and Wilson Whitley. Pete Johnson, and Louis Breeden.

2011 - Green, Dalton, Boling one was really good too.

2010 - Gresham, Dunlap, Atkins

For longevity-power, I'd say 2006 is up there; 4 of our draft picks are still playing (and starting, as one of the best at their team's position), 14 season after the fact.

Probably 2001 overall, but the 2011 draft completely turned the team around and set them up for their best 5 year streak in history.

Can't comment on those before I was born, obviously, but those were the best of my life.

Sample's going to HOF so, 2019 gets my vote along w 2001 & 2011. You think I'm kidding, but I'm not.

2006 of course being Joseph, Whitworth, Rucker, Peko...in that order. Pretty good 1, 2, 3, 4 picks!

Great point on how they are still playing. That's good longevity.

Man...at the start of the 2005 season Pollack, Thurman, Henry seemed like it was so promising didn't it!?!?

That one sure turned quickly.

2003: Palmer, Steinbach was pretty good for getting 2 good Pros.

Remember Dennis Weathersby? 1st Round talent that I think was shot that we got in the 4th Round that never panned out.

2016 has produced a pile of guys. Core of the current team. Maybe they can make some noise this year. Two top of the line starters, a bunch of other average starters and a pro bowl ST'er

Where's the negative rep button when you absolutely need it?

1969

Greg Cook

Bill Bergey

Kenny Riley

1980
Anthony Munoz

RE: Top 3 Bengals Drafts of All-Time - Nicomo Cosca - 05-30-2019

Obviously 2001, 2010, & 2011 are way up there.

2012 was pretty good too: Kirkpatrick, Zeitler, Sanu, Marvin Jones, and Iloka.

RE: Top 3 Bengals Drafts of All-Time - HuDey - 05-30-2019

2001, 1984, and 1980 (Any draft that nets a Munoz is gonna be on my list)

We also got Mike Wilson.  He was not a big name but he started at RT for us for 7 years.

That was a really great draft.  Edwards and Whitley were both top 10 picks in the first round.  One of those picks was from trading Bill Bergey three years earlier.

Top 3

1977...Whitley, Edwards, Johnson, Breeden, Wilson...Pete Johnson was the only Pro Bowler, but sheer number of starters for the Super Bowl run make this the top draft
2001...Justin Smith, Chad Johnson, Rudi Johnson, TJ Houshmandzadeh…4 Pro Bowl players, 2 All Pros.
1968...Bob Johnson, Paul Robinson, Bob Trumpy...3 Pro Bowlers, 2 All Pros

FYI the 1972 Bengals draft produced 4 Pro Bowl players, but two of those were for other teams.  OC Tom DeLeone (5th round) made the pro bowl twice for the Browns and OT Stan Walters (9th) twice for the Eagles.  Safety Tommy Casanova (2nd) and LB Jim LeClaire (3rd) both went to the Pro Bowl as Bengals.  And with the second pick of the first round the Bengals selected DE Sherman White who started 155 games over 12 seasons with the Bengals and Bills.  We had a top 10 defense 3 of the 4 years he started for us.  So that draft probably produced the most talent overall.

Forgot about Wilson.  He was a decent tackle, that really was a great draft year.  That was a good defense, solid DL, good LB's.  Remember Jim LeClair, Bo Harris, and of course Reggie Williams.  I think they were around then, too.

RE: Top 3 Bengals Drafts of All-Time - ochocincos - 05-30-2019

2012 was a pretty good draft even though only one player is still on the team. DK, Zeitler, Sanu, Jones, and Iloka were all impactful in the perennial playoff appearances culminating in the best team of this decade, 2015.
