2020 Presidential Election - Belsnickel - 06-19-2019 Well, it's off to the races after Trump held his announcement rally last evening. Though Trump filed for reelection on his inauguration day and he has held about 60 rallies since then, this was the official kick off point for 2020. Next Wednesday and Thursday will be the first debates for the Democratic field, with the DNC splitting up the candidates in a haphazard way to ensure everyone gets some time to make their case. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/14/us/politics/democratic-debates-2020.html That article provides details, as well as some editorializing, about the lineup. I'm going to leave this first post as just an informational one to get things started. Now that we're getting into the thick of things it would be good to keep election news in a central place. RE: 2020 Presidential Election - michaelsean - 06-19-2019 I can't believe we are already there again. Being in Virginia where every year is an election year makes it difficult sometimes. It is just never ending politics. I actually stepped away from some duties with the local party, here, because of family things. It's just constant effort and I couldn't keep it up. Now we'll have the primary candidates making their cases right along with our General Assembly elections coming up. No thanks. RE: 2020 Presidential Election - NATI BENGALS - 06-19-2019 Interesting read about the deplorables who gathered to worship the conman last night. https://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_5d0a2f14e4b0f7b7442a11ca Kind of gives you a better understanding of the mental state required to be a trumpet. Not all of them. But show me a moronic white nationalist conspiracy theorist. And i would wager they are a trumpet. And according to the Republican National Committee, he received nearly $25 million in contributions in less than a day. The concentration of money is just going to be different. The conventional wisdom that the candidate with the most money wins isn't really conventional, anymore. That trend was already bending before 2016, and Trump bucked it, himself. The people giving him money right now were going to throw in for him, anyway, same for any money raised in the first 24 hours for a candidate. I just thought pooling of resources would be an advantage. I dig there are currently 23 choices on the DNC side. I hope they pick one that's nearer the center. And he doesn't pay (most of) his bills so he'll have lots of cash anyway...lol. https://www.orlandosentinel.com/politics/os-ne-trump-orlando-money-20190606-4bme6fmeq5hfzaaxh37obcl6pu-story.html RE: 2020 Presidential Election - NATI BENGALS - 06-19-2019 (06-19-2019, 04:51 PM)bfine32 Wrote: https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-raises-248-million-for-reelection-in-less-than-24-hours-rnc-says-134331176.html I wonder if the trump campaign has ever received any illegal support? I know, totally out of line question, no need to hurt potus' precious wittle feelings... But sometimes responsible Americans have to ask the tough questions. Whether it be his words, his actions, intelligence reports, or watchdog findings. Sometimes when I put 2 and 2 together. It equals 4. wild shit i know. No sure what you mean by illegal support. Do you mean paid assistance from foreign entities like Clinton and the Fusion Corp or are you talking more of a Capone-like scenario? I am talking about omega dumb shit like paying off a porn star for breaking biblical laws while your immigrant (3rd) wife was pregnant and then your main political message being anti immigrant bible thumper. And you go on to hiring unregistered foreign agents as "National Security Advisors" and "Campaign Managers" ... And because of a massive russian internet campaign which he asked for there are still Americans that are in the process of being fooled by a conman. I often wonder how Hillary had time to kill all those people while running these massive criminal organizations and still never get caught in an investigation. And yet DJT(the stable genius) had to close his foundation, pay back people from his fake University, lost so many lawsuits and has virtually every aspect of his administration from the campaign to the inauguration to the people who selected (the best people, I'm told) under investigation with tons of findings against him and the people but people still support him. Weird. RE: 2020 Presidential Election - bfine32 - 06-19-2019 (06-19-2019, 11:06 PM)NATI BENGALS Wrote: No. Way worse. So by illegal support you meant..... RE: 2020 Presidential Election - GMDino - 06-20-2019 Got to hear some of DJT's rally from Orlando. He has really settled into a groove with the religious/cult leader patter. "They are coming for YOU...through me." "I will defend YOU...if you defend me." "Everything I do is to make YOU better...so you need me." What many call populism is really right in the wheelhouse of the cult leader as far as message and delivery. Kind of chilling to hear and to hear the attendees there simply repeating back exactly what he says without thought. Our electorate is not very well informed.
