espn simulates season... - Clark W Griswold - 09-02-2019

and it doesn’t end well for our Bengals:

Cincinnati on the clock: After finishing with just three wins, the Bengals edge out the Panthers on tiebreakers for the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL draft

Hopefully they can surprise some people this year!

So we're gonna go into Seattle and beat them but only win three games?   Sure.  And the Panthers only win three?  I know what ESPN thinks of us but why the Panther hate?

I was kinda looking forward to watching the season play out but now we don't have to bother cuz ESPN took care of it all.  Think of all that extra time we'll have through the fall and winter.  Wives everywhere are celebrating.

I say no way, Miami has #1 pick locked up for 2020 and 2021

RE: espn simulates season... - Nicomo Cosca - 09-02-2019

Getting the #1 pick sounds good to me...

Does anyone honestly think we’re winning the Super Bowl lol

It's ESPN.  They just say shit.  Backing it up or living it down is not part of the equation.

RE: espn simulates season... - Nicomo Cosca - 09-02-2019

You guys take this stuff way too personally. Most of the football world (not just ESPN) thinks we’ll be a bad team this year.

Three losing seasons in a row, our top draft pick being out for the season, and a coaching staff full of question marks will do that.

RE: espn simulates season... - Clark W Griswold - 09-02-2019

Interesting thing is that this isn’t their people making the predictions - they say they “played” the season through the computer 20,000 times or something like that. Still you never really know whats going to happen I was just surprised the Bengals came out dead last.

*Actually that was just one of the 20,000 that they used so go ahead and hate espn for choosing one that had the Bengals finishing with the worst record.

They don't have any idea what the new staff will do.  Mainly because the new HC has basically kept the whole operation under wraps.  Nobody does.    Either way is an assumption.

The Bengals won six games last year.  How did they get twice as bad in one off season?  To predict three wins is just pure horse shit.  And three wins for the Panthers?  Also horse shit.

It's really amazing that they could stop talking about Zeke long enough to spend five minutes on the article to begin with.

It has more to do with there feelings with Dalton than anything else.

We're going to surprise a lot of people this year especially on the Defensive side of the ball.

Miami 8 and 8 battling for first for awhile....

Chargers in the Super Bowl.

The chargers in the Superbowl really wouldn't shock me. I think all the Dolphins fans would cry if they finished 8-8. There all about the tank right now.

Agreed.

Computer simulations operate on the assumption that the input is 100% accurate AND 100% efficient.

Aside from the fact that we have new coaching and philosophy, we should remember that we are talking about human beings who play this game.

No human being is perfect and error free.

So, I view computer simulations as garbage in, garbage out.

One could look at a single game toward the end of season, when enough data is available, and make a reasonable assumption.

But an entire season, for all Teams, before any data .......garbage.

The simulation has Miami leading the AFC East at the halfway stage.

And that’s not going to change unless he makes a deep playoff run. Or at the very least shows 2015 wasn’t an anomaly.

with seattle signin clowney, what's our chances of winning game 1?

Will he even play?  Has he been practicing?

RE: espn simulates season... - NKURyan - 09-02-2019

According to the article itself, they randomly selected one out of the 20,000 simulations and used that one to write the article lol. Sounds legit!

It's not even an average or anything, it's just one random data point.
