Facebook removes Trump ads that use Nazi iconography - BmorePat87 - 06-18-2020

Facebook has suspended a Trump ad campaign for using Nazi iconography. In attack ads against Antifa, the campaign used large upside red triangles.

The upside red triangle was used in Nazi concentration camps to identify prisoners as being anti-fascists. It was reclaimed in the 60's by European anti-fascists for a short period of time.

The campaign responded by saying it was an emoji and used by Antifa, though the only connection seems to be one or two individual groups in the Netherlands and Spain.

Mother Jones confirmed that there were 88 ads run and the first sentence had 14 words. "1488" is a Neo Nazi symbol. That part seems coincidental... but then again they did just use the same logo Nazis attacked people with to attack people.

These dog whistles are more like air-horns these days.

Could be malicious...could be the morons in charge have zero idea what they are doing and lack the depth of knowledge required to not do these stupid things.

Either is frightening.

Wouldn't surprise me if a lower staff member slipped the symbol into the mix, and his seniors didn't recognize it.

So many such "accidents" in Trump messaging.
