The Value of a HC Change - Dolphins vs Bengals - THE PISTONS - 12-08-2020
So the Dolphins gutted their roster last year. Trading many good, young players for draft picks. Tanking for Tua (when Tua was projected to be the 1st pick).
The Bengals on the other hand had a narrative that they had talent that was underperforming under Lewis and a young offensive minded HC would turn things around.
Well both started 0-7, but:

Absolutely. And Flores stood up for his players.
Our offensive lineman wouldn't even get off the bench. That shows how much faith they have in this staff.

I would love to get Doug Pederson. Eagles may let him go and he is a really good coach. The front office has done him no favors with roster. He would be great with Burrow.

Hope the Bengals spend a little more time focusing on the nuts and bolts of the interview process, this time around. Or, better yet, I hope they are currently in the process of interviewing GM candidates..

I read something last night that some teams outsource part of the coach search process. They named one team that was going to do that. I'd love it IF we did that.
Also, I saw a Tweet about new coaching interview guidelines. A lot has to be on Zoom and it really limits in person.

If the anti-tank crew wants to actually win a game this season, firing Zac Taylor is probably your best bet.

Whoever the next head coach is...it has to be someone who is respected around the league...something that Marvin brought to the table when hired. No one of any real value wanted to come here and work for Zac, and now we see why.

Zac's hire reminded me of how a team would draft a guy that had good combine numbers despite putting up mediocre numbers in games.
Zac was a TERRIBLE OC at UC. He made the Dolphins offense worse when he took over. Really no success.
But, he was young and under the McVay tree.
IF the Steelers and Ravens destroy is...the Bengals have to fire him, right.

You would think so...but common sense doesn't always factor in where Mike is concerned. The fact that he's still to stubborn to hire a real GM is just mind boggling. He and the family are way too comfortable with failure and embarrassment.

Part of me is concerned that when Burrow went down that the evaluation of Zac did too.
Unless they feel like Zac got Burrow hurt. Calling that many passes behind this line is a recipe for injury.
How they could think Zac is the guy though...

Yeah...we didn't have Burrow because our HC/playcaller decided to have Burrow drop back to pass on pace for some 60+ throws against a top 5 pass rush...and he got his kneed catastrophically shredded.
MJ gave up something like 7-8 pressures in that game.
Its like shooting yourself in the foot and then talking about how you could run a 3 minute mile if you weren't shot in the foot.
