LAPD considering new limits on ‘pretextual stops’; police union objects - GMDino - 02-20-2022 Sounds like a good, sensible step...if they follow through with it. Probably should be considered everywhere if the data matches up. https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2022-02-01/lapd-considering-restricting-use-of-pretextual-stops Quote:BY KEVIN RECTORSTAFF WRITER RE: LAPD considering new limits on ‘pretextual stops’; police union objects - Sled21 - 02-24-2022 Yep, the police should stop doing anything. Let people live with the animals on the street, or at least try to. No one wants them locked up, so stop trying. It's working so well.... The recall effort on Gascon is picking up steam and appears to have some heavyweight backing this time. You can tell he's feeling the heat because he's starting to backtrack on his worst bullshit. The recent case in which he handled a transgender child molester with kid gloves blew up in his face. It's far too little, too late and he's still awful in a myriad other ways, but it appears people are waking up to the real world consequences of this "progressive" garbage. That's an interesting interpretation of the article so I'm going to assume you either a) didn't read it or b) aren't going to let things like data and facts get in the way of your preconceived narrative. Thanks. Nope, I read it. I agree, don't let things like hunch's and patterns be part of police work, because they never turn out to be correct. Whoever came up with Broken Windows policing should be lashed. No more traffic stops, no more Terry stops, no more arrests period. Leave those innocent people alone and society can rely on their good graces. It will be wonderful. We should come up with a catchy phrase to name our new land. The innocents & often times the poorest are the ones who will suffer. So minorities who were routinely stopped more often than white citizens are to blame? Even though the white people were more often to be found with drugs? But you're right...they are the ones suffering under a system designed to target them and hope the justice system can squeeze them. Guys, GM still thinks the criminal justice system operates like Mississippi Burning. He has a negative opinion of law enforcement and thus everything to do with the subject is skewed by this tainted perspective. It's people like him that voted for the people that created this mess. Thankfully, more and more people are waking up to the damage being down to the fabric of our society. Don't bother trying to argue policy with him, he doesn't care. I was referring to people who vote for officials like Gascon who ultimately endanger us all which includes every race. I don't know why I bother to engage either. Bored I guess... Well I was referring to the story I posted to start the thread. But you know if y'all want to talk about something else I guess there are other threads. But then where would some people go to beg me to talk to them? |
