Return Specialist - Bengalpool - 04-20-2022

I feel like any of these guys would be instant upgrades for our return game, and not to mention quality depth at CB/WR. Feel free to to vote "other" if I didn't list your guy. My study on return specialists has been light this year.

We know Simmons mentioned finding that guy that puts the fear of God in opponents for the return game.

I do want to mention that Velus Jones is going to be a 25 y/o rookie by the start of the new year (05/11/1997)... Likely off our board for that reason alone. We shall see.

I think Bengals would like Jones although he is a little small. I think he is explosive, he can be a homerun threat. As CB, he takes good angles in tackling, quick reads for zone scheme, great ST player.

I'd like to nominate Romeo Doubs, WR Nevada.

Bengals need a PR far more than a KR, and Doubs has 37 PRs for 463 yards and 1 TD. 12.5 YPR.
In 2021 alone, 12 returns for 170 yards at 14.2 YPR.

He's also a better size-speed outside WR type of prospect at 6'2" 201 lbs.
138 receptions for 2111 yards and 20 TDs across the past 20 games, which could make him a very good WR4 type of guy.

He was at the Senior Bowl but was unable to participate in Combine or Pro Day due to a knee injury.

I'd have no objection to any of these guys, starting in Round 3 (or later).

I think every team wants a stronger PR over a KR due to the increase of touchbacks. But yeah, I'd like the best PR of them all starting in round 3.

I’d expect a receiver to be picked in the later rounds. Hopefully with upside to develop as a #3 or 4 eventually

The kid from Utah who terrorized Ohio State.

Usually returners are small shifty guys.  If we do draft a return demon WR, it would probably be a body type similar to Boyd and be a slot gadget player for us.  We could potentially be drafting Boyd's replacement at the same time.  Which would be understandable.

RE: Return Specialist - Nate (formerly eliminate08) - 04-20-2022

Went with Calvin Austin who is also a speedy Slot WR. He is my favorite out of this group and I think fits what Simmons
said the most about putting fear in opposing teams as a Returner. But I like a lot of guys, Austin is just my favorite cause
he can also play the Slot. I like Covey too, just way older. Velus Jones I also really like and Doubs the guy Ocho mentioned
is an underrated one who might even be the best of the bunch, who knows, just need sure hands.

Bo Melton would be a guy to look at. Blazing fast and 2-time Team Captain

I really like Britain Covey too, but he is on the older side (turned 25 last month) and has a medical history. But that may cause him to go undrafted, and he'd definitely be worth a look. Can also provide a spark on offense.
