RE: Crazy Stats and Quotes Thread - Graphicguy - 01-23-2023

You know what these stats don't tell you? And this is the most important part of these games....it's the motivation to win....by every player.

We heard the Bills say they were flat. Diggs was ticked off at his QB. Could go on. No one said they were motivated, though. No one said they thought they were the better team.

That's not a recipe for winning games. Regardless of the stats, we're lucky to have players like Burrow, Chase, Higgins, Mixon, Hendrickson, Reader, Hilton, etc. You never hear them dissing each other. All you hear from them is praise for each other (even when Burrow was getting pummeled earlier in the season, he never threw the OL under the bus), and the coaches....vice versa. All you hear is now they are the team to beat.

Stats don't tell you any of that, but by far, this attitude is what wins games.

Those rankings are massively buoyed by the Carolina game. Here are the rankings if we remove that game...

EPA - 16th
Success Rate - 19th

Also, the run game has been quite poor since that Carolina game. Since week 10...

EPA - 21st
Success Rate - 25th

The Bengals are neither explosive or efficient running the ball. They just had a massive outlier that is skewing season data.

RE: Crazy Stats and Quotes Thread - Bengalholic - 01-24-2023

The Bengals are now favored by 2.5 points.

In the SB era, visiting teams favored in the CCG are 14-10 overall, and 7-4 in the last 11.

Either your numbers for Peyton and Montana are off, or this guy’s are…

Hopefully Burrow will finally start getting some normal off-seasons and we can be the ones hosting the AFC Championship games.

Yep.

Their stats are not only incomplete but also wrong. All I looked at was the first two columns because that's all that I was looking for.
I'll re-do the list later.

Great info. Though only the top 50 in yards. NFL only? No AFL/AAFL guys?

You're welcome to look it up yourself and add to the list. I looked up all 50 players and tallied it up myself.

Never thought I’d see the day the Bengals had a top 3 paid OL. Obviously trading Jonah would change that, but as it stands they have some serious money invested at that position.

If Jonah sticks at RT and Collins were to leave, that would also change things. 21m at RT between two guys currently.

I don’t see them cutting Collins no matter what. I believe his contract is setup in a way he only gets paid when he plays, so he’s a good insurance policy for when Jonah inevitably gets hurt.

Great stuff Nicomo, that is where your money should be put, the trenches and the franchise QB.

Highly doubt Jonah sticks at RT, I bet we trade him during or after the Draft or even pretty soon. I know Taylor said he would like
to see what Jonah does at RT, but it isn't a guarantee he beats out Jackson Carman there. My bet is Carman wins the job if we do
have an open competition. That wouldn't be good for Jonah's career.

Exactly, makes no sense to cut LC. He is a good RT when he finally gets healthy, and we would have to give LC a settlement if we
did cut him while he is injured. Jonah is always injured pretty much anyways, trade the guy and Draft a RT to compete with Carman
is my vote.

Hubbard has been the best run stopping DE in the league over the past 5 years.
