RE: is it racist... - fredtoast - 11-22-2015

No.

"African" is not a race.

Weird, because a Kenyan wins every one.

As there are a number of different races from Africa, no.  It's just rude.

Now if you narrow it down to just one of the races from Africa, then you are a racist son of a *****!

RE: is it racist... - RoyleRedlegs - 11-22-2015

No but your use of "a" in front of pluralized "friends" is offensive

Given the variety of ways race is defined, Africans could be considered a race. The most broad definition of a race is simply a population of people with something in common. Talking about Africans as a whole would fit that.

Personally, while it could certainly be seen as racism when using the broader definitions, I prefer to just call it prejudice as that is what racism is rooted in anyway. It's also being an ignorant ass hat, but we'll just stick with the more proper descriptor.

Is it racist to call Russians a bunch of savages? A geographic location isn't a race.

RE: is it racist... - GMDino - 11-23-2015

Is is racist to say racist things and defend it by saying no one can define racism?

Ninja

RE: is it racist... - BmorePat87 - 11-23-2015

So 61% of people say it's racist. I guess we have our answer

RE: is it racist... - Mike M (the other one) - 11-23-2015

No it's not racist, but it is stereotyping.

You can thank the Liberals in Hollywood and the media for that. They typically portray the black man as physically superior, yet child like in their mental capacity compared to other races.

Wow.  Just wow.

Yeah.  But those that say it's racist aren't 'impartial'.

What other explanations will be lobbed over?  Maybe something about how one should handle racism in a school gym class.

To be fair, he didn't say modern Hollywood/media.
So, if we're talking 50's-60's,  he's extraordinarily correct.
(barring the liberal aspect, maybe)

Was the media liberal in the 50's-60's?

Leave it to a librool progressuf like myself not to understand the implied past tense.

He used present tense "portray".

The people in a geographic location can be considered a race if they share a common characteristic. Race isn't just about the color of your skin. There are a myriad of ways to group people into races depending upon the field you are using.
